Hi all. Looking to upgrade 2007 4runner audio. Non-JBL system. Looking to add a subwoofer but want hidden install. Read about under seat powered subwoofers and was wondering if anyone had installed one? Which one and did it help fill in the low bass?
Thanks for the replies. I measured under both seats, and comparing that to the underseat subwoofers specs, the fit looks very tight.
Was curious if anyone actually installed a powered subwoofer under either driver or passenger seat in a 4th gen 4runner. Really don't want to purchase one if it won't fit.
dont think itll fit, seat must be halfway up from the bottom, and also itll stick out from the back. just throw a powered 10 or 12 in the back, rockford fosgate works pretty good. enough thump that you might need. 300 or so off ebay.
Do the non-JBL set ups come with the factory subwoofer in the back? I'm assuming no hence your inquiry if you can fit one under the seat.
If they do not come with the subwoofer, what about the idea of replacing your back passenger panel and getting one from a 4Runner that has the built in sub? Keeps the setup stealth and you can fit some great speakers in them from what I read.
Just a though, I could be completely off here.
Pics aren't working in some but will give you an idea of what may fit.
As far as the JL recommendations, I have the 8" Micro Sub which is smaller than the above mentioned ones and I don't see anyway it would fit under the seat.
Great thanks. Looking around I was able to find one post from someone on Amazon who purchased a Kenwood powered subwoofer and was able to install under seat of a 4th gen 4runner.
I may give that a shot unless someone has actual experience with a powered sub or even an amp the same size fitting under seat.
I installed some in my 98 4 runner back in high school and they sounded alright. Depending on the size and how loud you like your music vibration could be an issue for anyone in the back seat. Other then that subs are a great way to improve your sound system
