Awesome! Glacier NP was on the list, but wasn't sure if we would get to it. Definitely will now!

Of the parks I have been to Glacier is one of the best parks I have been to. It and Zion. I would bet Yosemite would be awesome but there are so any people that go there and that is another problem with Yellowstone. There are just so many people and it is hard to get around anywhere. Yellowstone is really all about wildlife and that is cool and all but where there is a bear on the side of the road, you will guaranteed be in a traffic jam for a minimum of an hour. Granted there are nice landscapes at Yellowstone but nothing compared to Glacier I think.

4,000 miles later I've returned from another fantastic trip out west.

The truck ran flawlessly, took me to some amazing places, drove through some fun stuff, and took a hit from a brand new GMC Sierra like a champ.

I'll be doing another full trip report in the coming days/weeks, but here's some cell phone pics for the time being.

Great pics man! I love the snow divide pic. I am also glad to hear that you are going to be working through this Photobucket crap. I would hate to see all that cool documentation go away. It sucks! I know we will lose a few members, especially people that have moved on but left great build threads and pics behind, but I am happy to see a lot of the good builds soldier on.

What happened with the GMC? The more I customize my 4runner, the more crap drivers make me nervous as hell. I feel like I am invested and hate to imagine having to start over. I guess that's one good thing about adding real metal bumpers and sliders though. Hahahahaha.

It's a total pain, but I'm working through it. I downloaded my albums from photobucket. Right now I'm working through my posts with a few pictures, and ones I don't care too much about resolution on. Those I just re uploaded the pictures to flickr after I downloaded them to my computer from photobucket. The ones I do care about resolution on like my trip reports (thank god the Moab one was already on Flickr...) I'm gonna pull the pictures off my laptop and upload them straight to flickr to keep the quality. So far I'm working backwards and I'm halfway through, with the exception of the larger posts with a lot of pictures.

Maybe if I'm feeling very motivated tomorrow I'll finish up the conversion to Flickr and can start writing the trip report. The photo editing will probably wait until next week as I'm getting a new laptop that will make easy work of editing pictures, while my current 5 year old Lenovo gets slow and hot...

Long story short an idiot in a GMC slid into me into a very sandy part of Medano Pass. I'm very happy I have my rear steel bumper because you wouldn't know anything even happened. There's only a minute scratch in the powdercoat. It sounded horrible and I felt it sitting in the truck as I watched this idiot come sliding at me sideways. The worst part was probably him driving off with no care in the world. He's lucky there was no real damage or the situation would have been very different. More details to come in the trip report though.

OT. What laptop are you looking at? My HP is 7 years old. There's Gorilla tape holding the plastic bezel together and I've re-soldered the charging port twice. I'm still debating what the next one will be. Asus, Lenova or MSI most likely.

Sounds like my Lenovo. It's been well loved. It'll probably become my traveling laptop, that I'll take with me on my trips incase I need a computer for anything. I got a Dell i5567. It should do everything I want it to do. Access the internet, let me look at pictures, do light editing, and use Microsoft Office. Other than that I don't need a fancy gaming laptop or anything like that. I get really frustrated when technology doesn't work. If someone would make a phone that just does the few things I need a phone to do I'd be a lifelong customer.

Somewhat yes, the only real solution to not relying on anyone or anything is to host your own pictures on your own site. I thought about that, but I don't want to mess with that right now. Maybe sometime later. I think Flickr should be pretty stable, it has a much more professional appearance, and Photobucket was giving everyone trouble for the last several years with crashing, and running horribly slow, maybe even longer. I honestly don't know how they survived as long as they did, or why people continued to use them, including myself. Lesson learned. Flickr is 100 times more intuitive and runs so much better. They don't give the feeling that they will die soon like Photobucket did. I only wish I had headed the warnings and switched sooner.

I have a smoking fast desktop rig I built 18 months ago that does all the heavy lifting but I still spend most of my time on the laptop. I'm kinda of a tech head so getting a smoking fast laptop makes sense. In reality though 90% of what I do on my laptop is web related. I could probably get by with a Chromebook. lol

Yep, I built my AMD/Asus desktop in Jan of 2016 for under $800. Using older parts (2013-2014) from New Egg & Amazon, stuff with plenty of reviews for reliability. Dual 1TB HD's, I even went with Windows 7 Professional, LOL it was $50 & I loved XP Pro & it's almost the same but better.

Screw laptops & phone's! Nothing like a keyboard, mouse & 26" screen.

I think it might be time to find a camera that takes beyond approximated cell phone pics. I need to just dump all my pics on my computer for backup. But I want to get out to find something to better capture some adventures that are just around the corner.

I think it might be time to find a camera that takes beyond approximated cell phone pics. I need to just dump all my pics on my computer for backup. But I want to get out to find something to better capture some adventures that are just around the corner.

All of my pics are on my PC & I have two hard drives. The D drive is a back up of the C drive. I bought my first digital camera in 2004 & I've never lost a photo, even when HD's fail, gotta have everything backed up.

Nice! I don't play games anymore or do video editing so I built the best I could & even went over budget a little. I thought I could use my old tower but the USB ports were too old. SATA 3 is nice, no more Master & Slave set ups for the HD's. I was a little behind the technology! LOL

My first build was 2006 & I got 10 years out of her except for one video card failure & HD upgrades. New software wasn't working with XP Pro so that was the real reason to build a new one. Money was no object then because I didn't own a house yet (or modding a T4R). It was a speed demon at the time.

So far everything from Page 11 to this page has been updated with Flickr photos. This is a lot of work... It's kinda interesting looking back through everything I did though and seeing how far the truck has come. Unfortunately the first 10 pages have a lot of pictures in them. Hopefully that will be finished tomorrow. I'll also need to fix the pictures for my build thread on my Supra...

Nah, laptops are where it's at. Although I almost never post on the forum from my phone. I read threads, but never post. Too much work and I don't like tapatalk.

Find yourself a nice midrange camera. I really like my Sony a3000 and I got it for a killer price on ebay a couple years ago. It takes great pics I think, and I only paid like $200. Sometimes I think about upgrading to a newer DSLR, but for now my Sony works perfect.

And once you start taking pictures on a real camera you'll never take pictures with a phone again. I only use my phone when I want to be able to easily send the picture, don't have my camera with me, or want to document something. New phones have great cameras, but they don't compare to a real camera.

I backup all my photos too before I delete them off of my SD card. And I upload them here, and have most of them backed up on a second hard drive. I should put that one in a safe deposit box somewhere.

No problem, it was kinda aggravating at first, but it got easier as I went on and had a system going. It was interesting to see the progression of the truck over the last 3 years or so.


I just looked through my Moab trip report with my new laptop. The pictures are so much clearer and better looking on this new screen. I'm still setting everything up on the new copmuter, but I can't wait to start editing and going through my Colorado pictures. Hopefully I'll have some time to work on that trip report this week and maybe next week I'll have something that I can post here.

Writing trip reports is fun and a good way to remember/transcribe your trip for your own reference later. Working 16 hours today was not conducive to writing trip reports though... Or planning an upcoming trip for that matter...
