Upcoming Trip Recommendations

Hey Everyone,
My wife and I will be taking a trip and staying up in Blowing Rock, NC from December 10-14. Any things we HAVE to do or any nice trails to explore would be great. Thanks Everyone!!!

Hit the Blue Ridge Parkway if the weather permits and take in the awesome sites and maybe do some hiking if you're up for that. I don't know of any trails(OHV) in the area but some locals might chime in there. Check out Boone and eat dinner at the Daniel Boone Inn(go early). Grandfather Mountain is fun. In general it's just a beautiful area. Tons to do and see. There is skiing in area also. I don't live up there but my parents horse farm is in Roan Mountain TN about 30 minutes away from the Blowing Rock area. We get up there as often as we can.

Brown Mtn OHV is 20-30 min away from Blowing Rock. Fun, easy 10 miles worth of trails that your truck will walk through. Worth the drive. Bunch of gravel roads out there, check out the deserted town of Mortimer, Linville Falls, and Grandfather Mtn.

I'd suggest going down near Asheville and visiting the Biltmore house one day, nothing like it anywhere else in the country and it'll be decorated for Christmas. Personally I'd save your money on Grandfather mtn unless it's a really clear day, when they rebuilt the "swinging" bridge in 99 they made it really safe which means boring, the bears are cool but not for the cost.

Given the early snow around there the parkway is closed in sections as is Mt Mitchell, might be open at that time but unlikely. Check online just before your trip for details. If you can cruise down the parkway you get the views and easy hiking access.

There are so many areas to explore around there, you don't even have to leave pavement for fun driving adventures.
