Updating 2010-2013 Navigation (Entune) with 2014.....

Hey Guys,

Has anyone spoke with the dealership or Toyota on if this is possible to do? The functionality of the 2014 radio seems much better than the 2013s. If it cannot be done, no worries!

Not sure. I sent in a support request a couple of weeks ago complaining about the constant nag screens that you have to confirm when you use nav, when you connect a phone with the entune app running, ect.

The reply I got was that of your typical "not used to having software" company. Quoting most of the letter (they even misunderstood what I was asking), make of it what you will:

Congratulations on the purchase of your 2013 4Runner!

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with the design of the navigation system and Entune in your 4Runner.

The navigation system programming functions cannot be accessed while the vehicle is in motion. This is a safety feature of the system to help prevent driver distraction and cannot be overridden. Future navigation updates will not change this function.

We regret that we do not have information available on update changes made to Entune. Once an update is released, information will be available.

Although changes were made for model year 2014 vehicles, these Entune changes are not always retroactive to previous model years.

EDIT: I thought I would add: I suspect the more complaints they get the more likely they are to fix it. It seems quite a few Prius owners (from a google search) were complaining about similar issues as well, nag screens, performance, a few other issues.

I have been dying to improve my 2013 entune as well. It takes as much time getting through all of the crap to connect and to work than it saves. Also pisses me off when it blocks half is the screen when I am using the back up camera and it breaks in to tell me what station I am on.
