I bought a 2011 2wd Sr5 last year. Great truck,I haven't had any issues so far. Well I decided to get a 4wd,I have been playing around in the dirt and like it more. But I can't do much in it or I'm screwed. So I regret not buying a 4wd. Went to the dealer and they offered me 27k for my truck. And quoted me 40k for a trail edition. I'll be upside down 4k in the end,which I consider not me being to bad. What's a great price for a 2012 trail edition ? I'm thinking 36k,if I can lower them that much since I still have to carry over at least 4k from my trade in.

The TE msrp can range $5k, what options do you want? If you are not planning on getting kdss then just get a 4x4 sr5. There have been like what's a good price threads in the last week. Just look around pages 1-3.
Where are you (geographically)? Have you seen the discussion on TE prices? I picked one up for well under $40K new with KDSS. Some have seen prices in the $37K range.

I live in Memphis,Tn. I found one in Utah I like. Yea I've been looking at the prices and surprised me how low I found some. I want nav,and the kdss set up as well. I'll be going to texas and Oklahoma occasionally so that's where I'll need it. Also since I'll be upside down I want something I won't regret this time. Has anyone ever bought a car that's not at your local dealer and they get it for you from another region? What's the process? Should I contact the other dealer as well?

I'm in Arkansas and got mine from MO. Gulf region hardly ever gets any (AR, TX, MS, LA, and OK). I found some in the Carolina's, Ohio, and Alabama when I was looking.
I tried to find the exact dealer the TE was at. Dealers can trade for them and stuff but you will never get the best deal that way.
I noted this in another section, but Carmax (where the sell new cars) sell at essentially cost. They are accustomed to selling over the phone. If you have a Carmax near you, you could sell your SR5 locally and fly to the DC area (MD actually) and pick up a new TE. You can even have them find one from inbound inventory and it doesn't cost a penny extra.
It sounds like a pain, but if it gets you the exact one you want, it might be worth it. The other thing you can do is go to the dealer with the Carmax price 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail in Laurel, MD- 8262640 at carmax.com and their offer on your SR5. I did that before and it saved me well over $1K.

My limited was $40,500.............if I had to do it all over again I'd have gone with the Trail with KDSS and leather upgraded interior.

I did this when I bought my Limited from a dealer in Arizona, I did it all over the phone/internet. I went to my local Carmax and got a 7 day guarantee to buy price, then called the dealer in AZ and told him what Carmax had offered me on my trade, they said they would match it and give me money off the new unit. I asked them to email me the breakdown sheet with all the options, sales tax, doc fee and everything else.
They did that and I got my 2012 LE OTD for just under $41,000 went to the dealership and was out the door in my brand new runner in under an hour.
