Have a 2003 4 runner Limited V8 with six speaker JBL system. I want to put in a GPS nav but really want a factory unit that looks like it belongs there. Have read hours of old post on the subject but many of the post are pretty old and no longer have working attachments. From what I gather if I go with a Solara unit (E7008 with yellow back lights) it will pretty much just plug into my JBL six speaker system. I am thinking maybe I would be better off at this point in time in going to the E7019 or E1023 just for the more current maps and technology. If anyone can help my questions are;
1. Will the Solara E7008 pretty much hook up without a lot of wiring changes? I do want to retain my volume and sound controls on the steering and I do want to install a back up camera.
2. Can you readily get map upgrades for these older nav units?
3. If I were to go to a E7019 or E7023, is this going to be a can or worms wiring wise or is it just a matter of installing a seperate small amp or two?
4. Are there any different issues that I would encounter with my JBL six speaker system verses the 10 speaker JBL system which is the one most of the post talk about?
5. Is there another factory system that I should be considering? I don't need a tricked out high powered stereo system, just decent stereo sound.
