upgrading to Viper, what will happen to stock alarm?

am thinking of upgrading the car alarm to viper, but i do know our keys have transponder on them . how does remote start work with this kind of alarms?

On my mustang the remote start(clifford) bypassed the transponder. The transponder allows the key to the start the ingnition, the brain box on the alarm bypasses that and tells the car to start. I would assume that once you actually put your key in and turn it that then the 4runner transponder would check the key for the code, but I can't be sure of that.

DEI makes a transponder bypass module that allows the car to remote start. Your 06 uses a pretty universal one which is the 556UW... you'll need a spare key with the transponder in it to do this.

But if you want to know a little trick... take your key and zip tie it around the key cylinder, it works too. That'd save you $50 on the 556UW but the 556UW is the installer friendly way to do it.
