Uphill Grind?

I was driving up a parking garage today when a car suddenly stopped in front. I decided to go around him. But as my car was rolling back I pushed the accelerator only to hear something grinding and a yellow flashing light on my dashboard. It felt like something was slipping but then it locked and moved my car up. Couldn't really see what the yellow light was bc it disappeared. Anyone know if this is normal or should I get it checked out at the dealer?

Traction control (low traction) and ABS are both momentary lights that only appear during actual slippage / application of the feature.

What you describe sounds exactly like Traction Control. It sounds like it worked for you.

I wonder if you have loose-road condtions, or winter wherever you live? I've found it handy to "test" these features... maybe hit the throttle, and hear/feel what it does.

HTH!
