URD MAF Sensor Calibrator

Long 2 hour drive (one way) with mixed roads that included some stop & go and long portions of 45-50mph. With TRD Intake, URD Y-pipe & MAF controller, and 93 octane, mpg averaged about 20.2 mpg. Now mind you, I have a lift, RCI rock rails, Aluminum skids +...before would have been around 17.5'ish.

Happy customer.

Side note - I also like the added boost in power. Not much (per the butt-dyno), but it is noticeable. Engine runs much more smoothly.

Wow, thats very notable. I can see 2mpg swings in either direction but it seems like you're seeing a more consistent gain. :thanks: My mod list is below, I would be really happy to get some punch and a consistent 2mpg gain back.

OP went to 93 before the mods, check the thread above. Just want to hear what he says after 3 weeks of braaaaping on it. MPG and manners.

yes he did but it also takes a few tanks of 93 to completely flush out the 87 octane as well. Unless he ran his gas tank completely dry prior to refilling w/ 93, he won't feel the benefits of 93 immediately as there will still be traces of 87 + 93 in the same tank. So depending on how long before the mods he began running 93 and how much of the old 87 was flushed out, he may simply be feeling the benefits of higher octane at this point.

Now, between the URD Maf calibrator and Crawfords Eco block, these devices cannot modify closed loop. The OEM ECU will constantly fight to bring things back to OEM values. These devices can only modify OPEN loop fueling.

I want to believe this works that well too but the more and more research I do leaves me skeptical.

I want to belive it works soo bad........maybe we don't do enough highway driving(.05%) to get the full effects going into open loop. This should literally be on the bottom of the needs/mods list

i was close but had too much time to think and research. Now im back at square one. Ever find a buyer for your Intake + Calibrator combo?

I’m in the process of installing my calibrator, I have an AFE drop in filter and Magnaflow Catback exhaust on. The unit I got has a “NGR Stock Intake” label on it. I’m guessing that’s the map preloaded.

Has anyone done any custom tuning or have different maps loaded on?

URD Maf sensor calibrator V3 with stock intake map installed right before I picked up the kids from daycare, definitely less pedal lag and quick smoother transition between gears. 2nd gear pulls well with greater acceleration and seems a tad longer from what I can feel. I have not had the opportunity to go WOT on any freeway entrance ramps or feeder road runs yet. I'm running 93 octane with a dry afe filter breathing through a TJM snorkel. Gadget was not thrilled when I told him I had a snorkel, he said I was suffocating my motor. After speaking with him I ordered the afe filter and attempting to do a custom intake with the stock intake box and TRD cold air intake tubing. I'm just waiting on the 3.75" to 4.5" silicon coupler to arrive and figure out a way to blank cover the extra maf opening on the TRD tube. After this I'll update to a custom map. I'm averaging 16.6 mpg. to be continued

Stock intake still and I'm posting 18.4 mpg this week, mainly freeway driving to work, temperature has dropped 10 to 15 degrees. I received the coupler and the mockup looks like everything lines up so I will be installing the trd intake tube with an on the way dummy maf in the trd sensor port later this week. I called Gadget yesterday and he mentioned running the maf on the stock intake box with trd intake tube is fine with the stock calibration. I suggested moving the maf over to the trd intake maf port and he said either would suffice. Most consistent air flow to the sensor is ideal and since the snorkel can cause turbulence in the intake box, I may switch the maf sensor over to the trd port next month.

Why are you adding the MAF to the air box and not the intake tube?

The stock maf location is currently on the top half airbox. I have to mount the TRD intake tube upside down and the trd maf location is at very tight fit next to the engine and wiring. I should be able to unbolt a bracket to have more wiggle room. I will revist that option but will have to see how everything fits. I went to autozone and found a master cylinder gasket that fits the maf sensor hole so that's another option for one of the maf delete.
