URD Spec-U Exhaust

Very interested in the URD system. Wondering if anybody has the 3 inch cat back in conjunction with the off-road y-pipe. Questions:
1) do you like it?
2) is there clearance for a 285 spare?
3) any issues with y pipe heat on transmission?
4) any issues with placing a skid over the y-pipe?

Thanks anyone/everyone for your insight.

I’ve been debating on this URD 3” or the Borla 2.5”. Not sure about the Y-Pipe yet. I’m looking for a little extra power but not a V6 drag racing performance machine. Maybe an extra MPG or 2 and a little low end power.

Rule of thumb:
If is adds power, it decreases fuel economy. Sometimes for no other reason than you really like the sound and use more skinny pedal. :lookout:

not always true.. i have also have a hemi powered vehicle at home. supercharged it and gained 3mpg.

Hate to get into the thread killing argument of hp and fuel economy. Does anybody have answers for my questions above?

Bump for these questions. Anybody running the Y-Pipe and URD catback exhaust?

Ordered my Y-pipe and Mk3 3" Stainless today. Also ordered the MAF calibrator that's plug-n-play. Might have to end up wait a bit since Gadget emailed me and said he doesn't have a map for the new aFe MomentumGT CAI I just installed.

Yes! I can’t wait to hear it! And I’ve been wanting the MAF calibrator for awhile, but haven’t seen anyone post any results.

Rarely on this anymore.
1. I love it, best exhaust on the market for the 4Runner not the typical exhaust pipe into a exhaust tip look.
2. It’s pretty tight, as for a 285 spare I don’t think it will fit.
3. Not that I know of.
4. Same as above

Will it fit? I was about to install today to realize potential conflict with my pelfreybilt bumper

installed finally..

the cabin drone.. around 2k rpm, is unbearable for me. Time to check out other options.

I found my drone was being caused by ill fitment. The clamp on the rear of the muffler was not strong enough to keep it in place on the axle pipe. I actually had it come apart while on the way to work, thankfully I checked under the truck before driving off or I could have lost the muffler. A couple of my other joints were ill-sized. I took it to a pro and they welded the muffler in place for me, made a huge difference. Currently troubleshooting leaks from their headers.

i'm tempted to order the Borla Type-S that just released. Just worried about pairing it with the Y-pipe. have you come across anyone that paired a catback with the y-pipe with no drone?

The idea I got from emailing with Steve/Gadget, was that the Y-pipe will produce more drone than the cat-back. The few times I've managed to get the exhaust completely sealed, it sounds great. Nice and mellow, almost stock quiet when cruising, yet aggressive when you step on it. Not enough noise to worry about drone. If you're looking for a cat-back kit.... I'd strongly suggest one with a side exit exhaust unless you don't plan on ever driving with your rear window down.
