i searched the forum and though i found info on mostly 4th and 5th gen, i didin't find exactly what i was looking for. appologies if i missed a thread in the past.
i have an 07 4th gen, sport edition, 2wd. i'm looking into using an unused slot in the interior fuse box (not under the hood) to add a 12v accessory. i've already used the extra cigarette lighter to power a charging station for cell phones. to be specific, it will be for something called navtool, which allows you to add a backup camera to an oem unit that does not come with that option (in my case, e7019). i don't have the specs at this moment so i cannot give the exact power draw it will consume, but i'm guessing it won't be much.
anyway, i used a continuity connector and checked out some of the blank spots in the fuse box. noticed that some are hot when the ignition is off, but turn off when the ignition is on; one is constant (4th from right on bottom row i believe). i also noticed that i have a 20amp fuse for 4wd, which is weird cause i don't have 4wd. can i use the add-a-circuit function into the 4wd fuse slot or is this a bad idea? or should i use something else that draws little power overall, like the gauge cluster fuse? or should i abandon using the fuse box at all for added circuits.
i'm afraid of tapping into something like the extra cigarette plug and doing something bad to my t4r. i'm not an expert on 4th gen wiring so aside from the wiring a9 connector in the kickpanel (which i cannot seem to find), i have no idea where else to get power from.
