I complain about this just about monthly but now we've hit an all time low.

No frozen calipers, 265/70 Cooper STTs, MAF is clean, TB is clean, intake screen is gone, im not a speedy driver, mainly in town which im sure is what kills me most. But this is bad.

If you are doing a lot of stop and go, short drives (less than 10~15miles), and/or have a lower quality of fuel in your area it can get pretty bad.

My '04 Sport V8 4WD, SW front bumper, 2.5" OLW Lift, and 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers gets about that much mileage around town becase I tend to drive less than 5-10miles a day (not all at once either) and barely get the truck warmed up and such.

Huh? If you got 130miles on this tank (I somehow missed that part..)... (assuming you are filling up in the average 19 gallon range and not burning it to 21-22 gallons) that means you got about 6.9-ish mpg which is down right horri-bad and I have no clue how you cannot notice a performance issue if it is burning that much gas on a stock engine..

Huh? If you got 130miles on this tank (I somehow missed that part..)... (assuming you are filling up in the average 19 gallon range and not burning it to 21-22 gallons) that means you got about 6.9-ish mpg which is down right horri-bad and I have no clue how you cannot notice a performance issue if it is burning that much gas on a stock engine..

it ended up being 175 miles and i filled 16 gallons. Also only fill up at Chevron.

Okay, that ends up being almost 11mpg which is more along the lines of what I see when I drive mostly in town.

Keep in mind that just because you buy from the same Chevron on the same corner everytime doesn't mean you get the same gas everytime.

Basically gas is all made roughly equally (I believe its about 2-3 companies that supply the raw fuel) and before its shipped as "Techron, Shell, ect" it gets additive packages that are proprietary; at least this is how it was explained to me by a company rep for a petroleum company I met a long time ago.

Point being, the gas is always different; some days its a little off chemically... some days you're sucking up the crap settled on the bottom of the storage tanks; other days the tanks been freshly filled and stuff is stirred up and floating around... and sometimes the owners are just cheapskates and don't get their storage tanks cleaned properly...

We do, they just come with a new fuel pump! :becky:

Though to be honest with you, I haven't really seen a modern Toyota pump die from clogging... actually I haven't seen it on even other brands really... I think since they are in the fuel all the time, the natural sloshing washes off the sock filters?

Average is 16.0, range of 13.1 (completely stop & go) to 19.4 (65 mph in the flat Arkansas delta region). Those tank-fulls that are in-town average 15.7. My highway tank figure is skewed since most of those tanks include a good dose of off-road activity, but they're about 16.8 mpg.
