Vacuum hoses

How many and how hard is it to replace the vacuum hoses on a '93 V6? I've checked all the other things that could cause HP loss so I guess this is next in line lol. Thanks in advance for any info!

It's not hard and I'd say go to your local auto parts store, buy about 8-10 feet of vacuum line my Autozone had it for .98/foot and just pull one line at a time and measure. This actually fixed my CEL code 71 for my EGR issue. Good luck to you.

I had a bunch of left over spectre red silicone vac hose so I used the rest on most of the lines for the truck. I need to get another kit so I can do the rest of the truck and the car.

It wasnt hard at all and its cheap insurance, not knowing how old the lines are. Preety sure most of mine were original from 89.

It's pretty straightforward, just pull off the old line and measure it against the new one, cut and replace it. I believe there are vacuum diagrams out there to help you with how many lines there are but you should be able to see them once you're up under the hood, just follow them with your fingers or you could even color code them with electrical tape if you wanted to go that far.

Only replace one line at a time to cut down on confusion. And take pictures before, so if you do mess up you have something to refer back to.

I've been steadily replacing all my old vacuum lines with silicon hoses. You don't realize just how dried out/cracked they are until you start pulling them.

One of the biggest culprets is the Throttle Body Air Intake Hose. Mine had a crack about 3 inches long underneath where I couldn't see it. It finally split, and my engine stopped cold. Quick trail fix with some duct tape that got me home. Replaced with a new one, and ran nice and smooth again.

Here's a picture. Easy to replace, easier to overlook.

Inspect yours for dry rot/cracking, and replace it!
