Vail bound...

Just curious - which hotels did you choose to stay in with your pup?
At the Holiday Inn Express in North Topeka tonight. $25.00 pet fee here. Cleanest hotel I have ever seen. Free wifi and breakfast too. There is a BBQ place literally in the parking lot of the hotel that was absolutely delicious too. It is called D!ckeys BBQ. Here is my brisket plate...

We didn't stay in any other hotels. Stayed with friends in the other stops.

Holy crap, that bbq looks awesome!

bofa, we had luck with Drury Inn. We needed a place that would take a dog AND had an indoor pool. This is heading East from Denver on 70.

Heading to Loveland today, doesn't look like it's snowing yet.... =(

Cool. PM me if you feel like skiing one morning before work. Not real sure on how my week looks but hope to get out there at least two mornings.

Definitely! I'll shoot you a PM when I figure out our timeline. As of now we're looking at heading up the night of the 16th and skiing the 17th and 18th, but that may change

Nice! Yeah I was checking out the Drury Inn and they seem decent. I've never stayed there before, but being pet friendly with no pet deposit is a huge plus. I've stayed at LaQuinta before and they were great too, but I couldn't find them close to the highway along the route we plan to take.

I'll add Holiday Inn to my search. I don't mind a small deposit but Marriott and some of the others are crazy.

Thanks everybody for the tips. I got an Epic pass today at November price level by simply emailing Vail with my predicament. I cannot believe that they honored it!!! So pumped! Does that happen or am I super lucky?

That is great to hear. Vail is a corporate model that prides itself on customer service. The hate they receive from some subcultures of the skiing community is completely undeserved.

Welcome to Colorado! I'm just round the corner in Aspen. When you get tired of the lift lines at Vail come on over and ski our four mountains, the only line you'll have to fight is the one at Gucci, or Prada :p Nothing like Highlands Bowl on a pow day...

I am the GM of two boutique hotels in Aspen, both pet friendly. Shoot me a PM and I'll set you up with the T4R rate.

Cheers, Jeff

The 4runner is doing fantastic in the snow...as expected. This snow is the easiest to drive on though...virtually no icy spots...just packed snowy roads. I am amazed with my braking ability and the traction around turns and during acceleration. DuraTracs are a big help. These things are ten times better in the snow than the BFGs I had on there before. Now we just need some serious snow to go with the serious cold. It is about -5 to -10 right now.
