Valve Cover gasket, anything else

Tomorrow the 4Runner goes in to get the valve cover gasket replaced. After I complained about oil on the old spark plugs the dealers service mechanics did agree and the extended warranty company will cover installation of a new valve cover gasket.

In my searches I didn't see but is there anything I should have them look at, test or change while they are replacing the VCG? Warping, pressure testing, secondary damage to heads?

Valve cover gasket is NOT a big issue.

Pressure Testing??? What are you going to pressure test??? This is NOT under pressure.

There is no way this could also cause a problem to the heads.

Warping?? This is stamped steel or aluminum...NOT CAST...If there is any warping you just hammer it straight. Not rocket science.

I think you're worrying too much.

The one thing you might consider is having the valves adjusted. These are NOT hydraulic valves so they may need adjusting. However this could add about an hour to the labor. And it sounds like you're only doing one valve cover...so then if you want all the valves adjusted you'd have to do both valve covers.

Its just a gasket nothing to worry about. I've taken mine off as well as several other XR's to do X1 installs.

You asked a simple question...and OBVIOUSLY from what you asked you know NOTHING about auto-mechanics. I was just giving you a FREE lesson. Tough to figure out how much you want to learn or NOT to learn when you ask such a basic question and then try to get specific and SOUND technical when you don't know what you're talking about.

Ok, buddy. I had to build my first car, my family taught me to take cars apart at age 14, removed bodies from frames and restored classic cars, started engines after 3 years of sitting still blah blah blah, so I've been around cars a little. I am not a certified professional mechanic but cause I chose not too. I am on this site to learn and I am an instructor and the people on here don't need nor want to be on a site with attitudes like yours- thankfully the other 99% of us here learn from this site. I see you do it a lot here- bullying and am glad you are not an associate, teacher or professor that i know of cause you give it a really bad name. You may be able to the TASKS of replacing things like brakes and sparkplugs...but you don't UNDERSTAND them....BIG difference.

I would 2nd the valve adj. if it hasn't been done ever or in a while..Had mine done and I was amazed at how much it quietened the motor esp. at start up.
