Valve Cover Gasket Question

Never even heard of that brand! Unless its branded Toyota with the OG part number, it probably isn't an OEM part.

I got the Fel-Pro gaskets off RockAuto for 25$ and they are still good after 15k

Hola,

Looking at kits for the valve cover gasket and etc for my truck. There are some super cheap kits, super expensive OEM ones, and then there's this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G6GY8...olid=3TBM5C848KJ17&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Supposedly it's the same brand as the OEM...but not Toyota? Can anyone sound off?

It doesn't look like they're OEM gaskets, Ive had nothing but bad luck with non OEM parts on the 5vz. If you're looking for a list of parts numbers here's a link

Blue Fel-pro from Advance Auto worked great for me. Use Toyota Black FIPG on the half moons and don't forget new cam seals in the back with FPIG. I think my Fel-pro gaskets included the spark plug tube seals..

Key is to get everything super clean before reassembly.

Don't drop anything down in the engine by accident.

The reviews on Ishino look great, include pvc grommet and rubber VC grommets. All good stuff replace with this job. I'd try it!

How long have the Fel-Pro's been in service?

I had the Fel-Pro gaskets on mine for 4 years or 25k miles. They did require to be tightened down a little each year or they would start to leak, but it's possible I didn't have them tight enough to start with.

I’ve had fel pro blue on mine for about 15k miles with no leaks, I had to tighten the bolts in the correct sequence and go back over them multiple times before they were all tight, you start in the middle and work your way out and once you get to the outside bolts the middle ones are loose again so you have to start over. I think the spec is like 7 ft lbs so basically just hand tight

Ishino is the company that was subbed out to make the VC gaskets and such, like Nippon Denso is for so many Toyota parts. It is OEM sans the Toyota branding.

Mine have been working well since 2010. No leaks.

I just did mine but used OEM Toyota for everything. Based on that, I can confirm what you already know about the pricing difference ; that kit is well priced!
I can't speak to that specific brand, but if I was you and considering that kit, the excellent reviews on it would make me sleep well at night.
I would still get a tube of FIPG from Toyota - don't skimp on that. Grab that kit as well and call it a day !

Just use OEM!!

You don't really need all the stuff that comes with the kit, get the two gaskets from the dealer, reseal the half moons with fipg, get some new spark tube gaskets if needed and youre done.
