Valve Stem Cap Question

Does anyone know the correct part number for the gray metal stock valve stem cap on a 4th Gen 4Runner? The local dealer can't seem to order the correct one!

You're better off just getting regular black caps. The metal ones have fused/corroded stuck on the valve stems for several members.

Thanks for the heads up on corrosion. I had lost one and thought that I would try to stay stock on this option. I may have to spring for those fancy chrome ones.

One of the chrome valve caps corroded on my 2007 Camry.

I tried to take it off w/ a socket, no luck. I was bringing in the Camry for warranty work anyways, so I had the Service Department look at the valve cap as well. They were able to take it off, but it stripped the valve thread.

Since they are some ugly aftermarket wheels that my dad picked out. I don't care for it. I just put a regular black cap & it's fine so far.

Dab of anti-cease will solve that problem forever. As for factory aluminum caps - they're cheap stamped part. I'd get set of machined chrome or stainless at local parts store.

Add one to corroded metal valve caps. Acura had the common sence to recall my TL to install plastic caps - I never thought about the 4Runner. I needed pliers to take one of the caps off and the metal valve stem twisted a little. we'll see if it is flat in the morning!

For anyone in the snow belt - change those caps...
