Valve Stem Protection?

After recently slicing one in half I'm wondering if anybody has any thoughts on some sort of protection for the tire valve stem. I know of the flush mount ones but they won't work with our TPMS.

Probably more work than you are willing to do..but you could have the TPMS banded to the wheel and then get your shorty valve stems.

Get the TRD wheels or any other with the fake bead lock ring. Problem solved.

Get some rock rings welded on.

^To alloy wheels

I ditched mine for the same reason, snapped one off. I put the plain ole rubber ones in as they have some give to them and are less likely to break off. Down side is the tpms light is always on but oh well.

Technically wouldn't they be guards since true rock rings are actually a mounting method for the tires? Not to nitpick, just something I learned when I really looked into it.

If you don't intend to use the stock rims, look for rims with more protected valve stem areas (some mount on the back of the wheel rather than the front half) or get a wheel with true or fake rock rings.

If you want to preserve your stock rims, I would take your wheels to a CNC shop, have them drill out and thread the rim for rock guards/fake rock rings.

Mikey-

Are those your new rims? if so, how much they set you back with the rock rings? Those are purrrrty! :D and do they come in a 17"x8-9" wide?
