Vehicle build date?

What's the typical build date range for each year of the 5th Gen? Looking at the inside driver's door sticker, mine was manufactured in July 2015, while there are 2016s with build dates of August 2015 at my local dealership.

I suppose if there's no significant changes, they just start stamping out the next year at a per-determined date?

I think you answered the question yourself.

2016s just started hitting dealerships in the past few weeks. If you figure a two month lead time to ship them across the ocean from Japan and distribute them to the dealers, then the ones that are hitting dealers now were built in August, which is what you saw at your dealer.

My 2013 was built Sept. 12, 2012 and shipped on Sept. 13. Got to the dealer on the 26th.

model years usually start in October.


reason why is because transport time from japan to delivery to dealer take about 2 months.

Well, obviously. He specified 5th gen 4Rs which are exclusively built in Japan for the North American market, so I'm not sure why domestically produced vehicles are relevant here.
