Verizon folks, what phones do you use?

Nexus 6 and loving it.

I paid (-) $160 for the phone, including taxes. I bought it at Costco, paid $40 in taxes, got back a $200 gift card to Costco.

This was a far far better deal than the Verizon store was offering.

Stupid question...but are you saying that there are SOME apps that still can use the camera? IF so, then this is a software issue, not hardware.

Stupid question #2...have you tried doing a FACTORY RESET (after backing up your data)? This will likely cure your SOFTWARE issue.

And yes, this is why i stick with Apple...even out of warranty, the local Apple store folks can at least help me out or point me in the right direction. With other brands, you are stuck with dealing with local carrier store which i have found to know very little about anything OR sending in your watch to manufacturer and be out of a phone x 3-4 weeks at least.

Hey Thai, no, the camera does not work period. All I get is "WARNING: CAMERA FAILED". I spent several hours on the phone with Verizon, then Samsung troubleshooting, including factory reset, & safe mode, and it's a hardware issue. So the apps which depend on using the camera screen to operate, no longer do either. :(

My wife has a Motorola Moto X 2nd Gen, and loves it, and I am actually leaning that way, however, I don't like the fact you can't replace the batt without surgery.

I doubt I'd get an S4, as I've heard the batt doesn't hold up nearly as long as the S5, and it seems like it would be a step backwards.

It would make sense for me to get an Apple product, as we have Apple stock, but I'm not a big fan of what's out right now...

I've had a Crackberry before, enough said...

The Notes are nice. I really do want to have wireless charging. I've been looking at working it into my Runner somehow.

Thanks for the opinions. Keep them coming.:playball:

I have had an S4 for a year and it lasts all day for me. Another option the Moto X Pure edition will be out soon. that looks to be a good phone

If you are going to get a 6s don't waste your money on a 16gb. I'm shocked they still make a 16gb because it is so easy to fill the memory up fast, half of the storage is taken up by the software. The extra $100 is well worth it to get the 64gb model.

I hear ya. 16 gb goes by fast. Both of my tablets have 16gb internal, and I'm scrambling to not max out. It doesn't even really help having an SD card. :noidea:

How about Nexus 6 for $300 on Amazon??? Doesn't it work with Verizon? That is a nice price for a flagship...vs the Moto phones (which are mid-grade IMO). And with Nexus, you will get updates quickly...and you can bounce to other carriers if you don't like Verizon.

The Mophie case that I am getting for free has storage built into the case. Otherwise I would agree and get the 64. 16GB is useless these days, especially with the new Live Photo feature.

Had a Note 2 and was not happy with where Samsung went with the Note 5. Right now I have an Samsung Core, but my pre-order Iphone 6s Plus will be in on Saturday. It is my first Iphone, I have been a die-hard Android loyalist for a long time.

Galaxy S4. Been a pretty good phone for the last two years but it's starting to give me fits. Screen is flickering while scrolling, touch screen is becoming less responsive, loses signal. I'm due for an upgrade in November so I'm going to see what Verizon will do on an iPhone 6. I just really enjoy the simplicity of the iPhone's and they integrate with everything. Much more so than Android.

I screwed up!

You cannot get a Moto G on Verizon. If you go to the Moto website and start pawing thru their forums, you will find people *****ing about it.

Anybody know how to edit a post and strike thru the font on this forum software?

OP what exactly are you looking to get out of a new phone? How important are the features that are available? All the suggestions in the world won't make a difference if what we're suggesting doesn't have the capabilities you're looking for.

I think that camera is important to him.......if so, then he only has a handful of choices, including Samsung Galaxy/Note series, LG G4, or iPhone. The rest are at least a step below these.

Good thread as I am in the market for a new phone. I have a galaxy s4 and it has lasted me 2 years and 9 months. Been a great phone until I updated it to lollipop. Then I started having issues. It now lags pretty good so I am worried it is about to poop out. I do use the camera a lot both at work and play so that is important to me. For anybody that has the S4 and hasnt updated it to lollipop DO NOT DO IT!!

I guess my point is, what else? Are there higher priorities than a camera? Additional criteria can help narrow down the choices from 4 to less, or if an average camera will suit his needs just fine, it opens up a whole realm of additional options. If the camera is his number one criteria though, then you're right on.

Have you done a factory reset since the update? A lot of times doing this will help resolve any quirks in a new system.

Note 4 Developer Edition with custom ROM and 128GB SD card.

Since it's running Morom Lollipop custom ROM and is unlocked and rooted there is absolutely no lag. All bloatware is removed. all adds are blocked.

They are getting hard to find now that Samsung has stopped distributing them.

I will be keeping this one for quite a while since Samsung has decided to go away from removable batteries and SD cards.

All security removed. :biggrin1:

With rooting, you have less security (more vulnerable to malware) and no Android Pay.

Not to continue to take this thread down rabbit holes, but do people actually use Android Pay, Apple Pay and all those other things? I haven't really looked into it, but is there really any advantage over a physical card?

Yes, I use Apple Pay where available (limited at this time). Apple Pay (and Android Pay) is a lot more secure than physical card...a lot!! Since I have Apple Watch too (which has Pay), the transaction is super quick and easy.

NFC terminals are becoming more popular and more widely distributed.

Currently running an LG G2, long overdue for an update. After reading the articles over at phonearena.com I was hoping to grab one of the phones powered by the new snapdragon 820 chipset, but they won't be out until summer and I can't wait that long. On Sep 29 HTC will unveil their new Aero with an interesting and powerful processor along with a new camera supposedly on par with LG and Samsung. Probably set for a black Friday release. Although if you need one now the S6 and S6 Edge barely push out the G4 in specs.

IMO, Qualcomm is no longer the leader in chip design. S810 is a total failure and an embarrassment to Qualcomm. The once leader has fallen flat...and now playing catch up to Samsung and way behind Apple in chip design.

HTC A9 will be a huge failure...just like the M9. Qualcomm S808...while OK, is severely lacking in graphics.

See: https://www.gamebench.net/en/blog/l...ked-against-other-android-and-ios-smartphones

Personally, if I on Android, then I would wait for Galaxy S7, which will sport Samsung's first custom ARMv8 chip. Current Android devices with Qualcomm S810 and S808 are not worth it, unless you can get one with discount pricing.

Well this is my fun phone. It is for getting the most enjoyment out of it while I am in between doing real work. I don’t keep any identifying info on it for a reason. I have a locked down S5 with KNOX for more secured stuff.

I would never use Android pay or Apple Pay. They will both be hacked sooner or later. Someone will make an app/hardware that they will use to get near you to charge your apple pay or other one without you even know about it. It will use NFC and will look legitimate.

Malware is happening on both Android and Apple systems. Apple is now attempting to remove malware from at least 150 apps, many of them are from approved apps from their store so they are not immune.

Like most Itards you seem to think that they are invincible to any kinds of hacks. That is simply not true.
