Got some pictures today from the manufacturer in S Africa of my new trailer that will be shipped out in a few days and arrives beginning of May, as they were doing the final touches to it before it is loaded into the container. Am looking forward to camping/exploring this season. Sleeps 4, shower, full kitchen, fridge/freezer, full electrical, LED lighting, great storage and will go anywhere my modified 4-Runner will go and only 1672lbs with independent suspension. Looking forward to creating some Awesome memories

What brand does your friend have, is it as lightweight, that was the big selling feature for me how lightweight these are.

No idea on its weight, but it's pretty light. It's definitely not as extensive as yours. Just a simple tent and awning along with storage and some foldout shelving for cooking and such.

As long as it suits his lifestyle is all that matters and he has a lot of fun using it creating memories is all.

Also have these 2 coming in, both sleep up to 7 people, full kitchen, fridge/freezer, full electrical, LED lighting, electrical panels accommodate solar, generators or shore power, 120L water capacity, the one has hot water on demand and shower. Both have a huge 360 degree awning to keep everyone comfortable no matter what the weather is.

Both are lightweight:
Tec2 only 990lbs
Tec5 only 1279lbs

It is going to be an Awesome summer.

Based on today's exchange rates Chobe Tec, 1672lbs, is approximately US$36,500.00 or CDN$46,995.00

Tec2, 990lbs, is approximately US$24,700.00 or CDN$31,895.00

There is a Tec5 model as well that is 1279lbs, with more storage, hot water on demand and a shower that also sells for approximately US$31,000.00 or CDN$39,995.00

So for what is offered, these are priced very well, I was considering other manufacturers however nothing else was offered that was this lightweight offering this many features, plus the awning and tent footprints mean, no more setting up of tarps, or circling the wagons with other vehicles to keep the bad weather out. Usually when pulling a trailer I dread the MPG I get, with these it should not be to bad at all.

I've looked at Turtleback and Conqueror.
The Patriot catches my eye too.

The ones made overseas so far seem to be better built.
Nothing wrong with Turtleback, and they are much cheaper.

I just think the others are made with the knowledge that they are going to see a LOT of rough use, and are overbuilt for it.

Since I just got back to my computer I may have missed it.

They are available at dealerships in the US as well, although I think they are only bringing in the Tec5 at the moment. Being I do a lot of camping myself I made sure there were a few extras with these like 265/70/17 tires/matte black alloy rims, extra charging ports for devices so a total of 5 USB, 2 110V and 2 CLA, plus additional LED lighting through out. Basically had them set up how I would use them. I am now testing out 200W and 210W lightweight/waterproof durable solar blankets that fold up to the size of a laptop, for powering these trailers along with general overland use and emergency preparedness.

This is a picture of the 200W one tested this past weekend in the mountains, preformed how it should, very happy with it.
