Trying to achieve one thing. . . stiffness. . . more specifically, to stiffen the rear end of my 2014 TEP, non-KDSS. . . I'm not looking for lift, but understand that unloaded, it might be a natural consequence and I'm okay with SOME . . . a little . . . lift to the rear end. . . but I'm not looking for it.

Before flaming, I've searched and searched and most of what I have found is either speculation, a bunch of back and forth among people who are guessing about what might or might not work, or people obsessed with achieving lift (or who were bummed that they got way more lift than advertised). . .

Anyone actually sought stiffer rear end with minimal lift and achieved it? what worked for you?

I know a few older t4r guys around here locally used Dodge Springs from a durango or something similar and got little to no lift. I'm not sure about the 5th gen ls though

You don't even have to search for your answer. Go get a 650# or 700# spring. If it's too long cut it down. Simple. Springs are not magic. There is no speculation with springs. There is no opinion with springs. If the 4Runner has 600 lb springs stock, then a 650 lb spring would be stiffer. A 700 lb spring even stiffer.

Your best option if you want no lift is just put airbags in your existing springs. Many here do that for pulling trailers and it works well.

I want magic springs! You crushed my hopes and dreams.

So to shorten your Magic springs I guess you can use a Magic eraser! I had a station wagon once that had air shocks. I could add or let air out through a tire valve mounted in the rear bumper by the rear license plate. Worked pretty well and was quick.

Thanks for the input 1engineer . . . that's why I didn't ask for an opinion. . . my search on the topic yielded a ton of them. I should've been more clear, as I was hoping that someone might have had a straight swap that worked for them.

Nothing on a vehicle is magic . . . it's all physics, geometry, chemistry, and a bunch of other science. . . but people opine regardless. . . even you told me what was "best". . . haha. . . but I do appreciate the suggestion.

I'll probably end up cutting springs, but if anyone did a straight swap that worked for them without the cutting, please let me know.

Starting to consider bags more and more. . . it's on the table. . . my original thought was although more of a pain to install, it's no more added parts and no more stuff to break than what's already there. . . I like the flexibility aspect of the airbags though, so yeah, it's on the table as an option.

Honestly it's not as easy as loosening some things and swapping out a part, but it's certainly easier than swapping springs. I went at sloth speed, was anal about line routing and triple checking everything, and even then was only about a 3 hour install. Antman did a write-up on it (scroll to bottom of first post), I have one in my thread as well with a couple different thoughts. I blame Antman for me having to get them, he's the source of half the mods for people in this forum. Group buys probably constitute the other half.

Peer pressure...

I do love the bags- but on these trucks swapping the springs is definitely easier.

Probably a 30 minute job if you e done it before.

Someone say Stifler springs?

Stop the blasphemy! We all know he kept his stock and never listed them for sale in the "for sale" thread so now that he's left us, nobody else will have stifler springs... unless he were to start reproducing them...hmm. Group buy?

If you're looking for a stiffer ride and little to no lift, airbags may be the way to go as you can custom tailor the air pressure to the load. I had them for a while on my 4th gen and they definitely worked as advertised. I would also recommend a better shock for the rear, such as FOX, Icon, King that can also be custom valved to your liking.

If you put same-length stiffer springs you will get a lift by default. The empty weight of the vehicle will push 600# springs down one distance, and will push 700# springs less. So it will ride higher.

Just thinking outside the box, but have you considered simply upgrading shocks? They technically won't be "stiffer", but they will dampen movement more quickly which may be what you really want.

I did think about newer shocks. . . and I still am. . . but I'd be kind of admitting defeat on the 5160's as I've only had them for a few weeks. . .

I understand that it will ride higher by default with stiffer springs. I thought I mentioned in my original post that I'm okay with a little bit of lift in the rear because of that very issue. . . I'm just not going for extra lift as a goal.

Cutting the stiffer springs is starting to sound more and more palatable.

Nicht nur die Verwendung von Kamagra ist nützlich, es gibt viele Medikamente, die während der Untersuchung verschrieben werden. Jedes davon ist für das Problem verantwortlich, das Sie beseitigen möchten
