Vinyl wrap for TE look?

I have a question for Jawainmann or anyone else with vinyl experience. I actually have the vinyl at home for this and am hoping to get it on this weekend. I have a canadian SR5 so we have the TE bumper already just not in black.

The question is this, does the US Limited bumper have a seam at the edge of your vinyl (which would make cutting and hiding the edge easy)?

If not how did you cut the vinyl on that edge? Also did you use anything to prevent it from peeling such as the 3M adhesive primer and did you just wash or did you also use alcohol to strip the surface? I plan on using knifeless tape to cut as there is no seam.

Wow

I just got quoted $750 to do the wrapping, that is more than I was expecting. Perhaps I was underestimating the cost of vinyl though as I recall BFLAN saying he spent a few hundred in material and he wrapped less than I was planning. Either way darn, I wish I hadn't told my wife it would be around $400.

Anyone know if that quote is off the wall? I know the installer is very talented, he has trophies from the US national vinyl wrap where he placed first, and there were 2 Bugatti Veyron's in his shop that he just wrapped. Who the hell wraps a Bugatti? Those people need to give me $750...

Im new on this forum, but I don't have any issue with the info being consolidated into less threads. I sometimes go insane with 15 open tabs on my browser from trying to cross reference various threads while doing my research! More info in one thread is beter IMO.

To answer part of your question, my limited doesn't have a seam where I want to cut the vinyl (I think its the same on SR5 but not sure) so when I talked to the vinyl guru he said that knife-less tape was the only way to go without damaging paint to achieve a clean look. I also asked him about what prep needed to be done before I brought it in and he said just wash it with soap and water, rinse well, and don't apply any other products to it. They might use some type of adhesion promoter at the shop but I didn't see anyone using it when I was on site.

Hopefully the info will help you in your install, man Im getting jealous already!

Thanks TThompson, FYI my material came to $165 with a role of knifeless tape. I got enough vinyl to do front and rear bumpers and mirrors. I ordered it through autovinylsolutions.com

I'll try to take picks of the process and post on monday.
