Warn 9.5xp-s or M8000-s for Shrockworks?

Getting ready to mount my new Shrockworks front bumper and am having difficulties deciding on if it's worth the extra $600+ for the 9.5xp-s.

Both winches have a $100 rebate right now so that helps... but that 9.5xp-s still is still more expensive than the bumper itself. :fear:

(Please note that these are the only two winches I am considering. Do not want VR series or another maker.)

Leaning to just forking out the extra johnny to do it right the first time... Thoughts?

I know lots of people run the m8000 but I honestly think for the weight of our rigs (especially with steal bumpers etc.) I’d feel better about the 9.5xp-s. I think the extra winching power is worth it unless you are planning to have a short line on there. Remember the winching power is less when more is on the spool (less line out). I just feel that for safety equipment the xp-s is worth $600. Just my opinion and the fact that I wheel with FJs that weigh considerably more than my rig so want the ability to winch them too.

I have the 9.5cti, I was definitely getting a Warn but might not have gone for the higher range cti except that 4Wheel Parts had a smokin' deal on it during one of their big sale days. From what I can tell my 9.5cti and the xp you are looking at share better sealing and newer motor technology over the M8000. I used older Warns in the past and I can tell you that the cti has a really nice fit and finish, and is faster and smoother during operation, there is no doubt that you are getting extra quality for your additional bucks. To me with a sophisticated beast like the 5th Gen and the importance of the winch as a recovery tool going higher tech model made sense. Another thing to consider is the faster line speed, I pulled some rocks out of the road last summer and the fast speed was really noticeable and sometimes seemed too fast for that type of work. Also, the additional 1500 pounds of pulling power can't hurt. Oh, and definitely get the wireless remote, very cool and useful accessory.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am right there with ya and you cover a lot of why I was leaning to going with the 9.5xp-s.

The 9.5xp-s has better sealing and duty cycle as well... there are reasons it's decent more bit expensive. Maybe I just needed some extra comforting in laying out that additional cash. :wof:

Right now I think the plan will be to go forward with the 9.5xp-s.

Another middle of the road option would be the Warn Zeon 10-s. I don't know anything about the M8000 or the Zeon, but I run a 9.5xp on my '98 Tacoma and I love it. I don't use it very often, but I can rest assured it will always work when I go to use it. The line pull on the 9.5xp is considerably better compared to a lot of the cheaper winches. I know for a fact you would not be disappointed with the 9.5xp if that means anything to you.

If it were me, I would get the 9.5. You cant go wrong with extra pulling power. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Plus, i have found you get what you pay for. The good news is that they are both Warn winches so you cant go really go wrong with either. Good luck with your decision.
