Very nice. Manual wind only and no date kills it for me though. Mechanical movements are made in Swiss...so, not in-house movement...maybe ETA? Parts are shipped to LA where it is assembled and finished.

Excellent watches but are uninspiring in person IMO. They flip ALOT.

It has been getting good press and the presence is unique which is good but will be divisive. Time will tell.

The movement sure sounds similar to the new Rolex movement! If it is a close relative of Rolex caliber, then this is a major bargain! I may consider this...like the leather band.

I kid you not when I tell you I had the Tudor Black Bay in blue and the Pelagos on my wrist just yesterday at Wempe here in midtown. I was there looking at a Breitling Superocean.
The Black Bay was unimpressive. The Pelagos was made of titanium which immediately turned me right off. I just don't like that brands designs. I'm sure they are fine watches though for those that like them.
Took a look at the Bremont S500 again and that is definitely the one watch for me if I decide to be a one-watch guy......although I only own 3 today anyway so no huge change for me.

All kidding aside, why do you buy a Rolex or Omega with 8500 caliber instead of a Tag? For the most part, all have similar accuracy. All fairly reliable. So, why? Why buy automatics when you have quartz? Quartz are way more reliable and way more accurate. So, why buy Rolex or Omega or Patek?The point of buying a mechanical watch is that it provides a "beating heart" on your wrist...something that exotic...something that makes you feel special...something that is hard to imagine how 200+ tiny little parts could work in harmony to give time (and date).
Those who argue that ETA movements in their watches are just as good as Rolex, Omega 8500, Patek, etc. are missing the point. I can buy a very nice Citizen with finishes that rivals the best of Swiss...but is that what you're buying it for? Steel finishes? or are you buying Swiss because of the mechanical beauty that lies inside the case?
And if you're buying a mechanical watch, then isn't the mechanical movement the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of it? And would it be nice/special that the movement that you have on your wrist that costs THOUSANDS is UNIQUE to the brand, and not some off-the-shelf stuff that is present on a $500 dollar watch?
Call me an "in-hosue" snob...but when I spend THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, there is no reason NOT to be a snob!
And for Rolex new calibers and Omega's 8500, these in-house movements ARE unique and HIGH PERFORMING over their ETA counterparts. Have cake and eat it too!

Can't help you because I am not into skeletal watches...but maybe just get him a nice LONGINES watch? Longines appeal to the classic minder folks.

A bit of a long story but after I realized I really wanted it (after visiting the midtown Bremont Boutique) I called a couple of AD's and the best price I could get was $4590 (from $5400 retail) new. I then went to look used online and didn't see anything that made me feel 100% until a couple of days ago and a private dealer had this one for sale that he picked up from a businessman (owner of a large crane company that leases cranes globally for major construction projects) who buys and sells very expensive watches on a whim and often never wears them. This watch was never worn by this person who got if from an AD with all the boxes, papers, cosc, cards, etc. $3600. I scrutinize these things very very closely and it has not even the slightest mark on it....and every slightest detail is the same as new. The key was researching, investigating, and getting references on the private dealer. Also spoke to him a few times before pulling the trigger. Took a bit of a risk but worth it in this case....don't say I'd recommend it for everyone though. For all I know the movement may be from a Mickey Mouse watch.
