Still have the Explorer, but the Speedy is gone. It was the watch that really brought me into loving watches. Back when I was a kid my dad bought one of the Speedy Reduced watches and I fell in love with the history so I knew I had to own one of my own. Unfortunately I have pretty small wrists and 42mm is just too large of a case for me.
Love watches--a few of my favorite pics of a couple of the watches I own or have owned over the years

Was just rudely reminded I own a Z-serial Submariner Date today having sent the frickin' thing to Toronto for much belated servicing (4 years late)... $300 shipping back and forth, $1K+ for servicing minus any parts. Timex, Casio... looking awfully good right now
I have a Z serial LV that is about to get sent in for the first time ever..... Still runs like a champ but figured it was time to bite the bullet

And this is why i leave my Rolex TOG in my closet. Heck paying $800 every 3-4 years for a new Apple Watch is cheaper!
Benefit is you can drop it off at the Dallas RSC for free and pick it up when it's ready!
Agreed! But then I think, man it's a tool watch...it should be worn and used as such, not treated like a box queen.....then I laugh, at the irony of all the mods to my 4Runner and the infrequency it makes it off the pavement. Such is life I guessout:
Yea that is one nice perk! I will say it is nice to know no matter what condition the watch is in, or abuse I put it through, that Rolex will send it back in the condition it was the day I bought it. You just have to pay for it
Tool watch...i hear this a lot...but a mechanical watch cannot stand much “tooling” around (sports, gun range, golfing, or any sudden movement activity) without creating undue stress on the inner gears/parts.
I hate that i had to take off my Rolex when i play football with kids or go to gun range.
I agree that Rolex service is AMAZING! Literally makes your watch brand new again!

Similarly with golfing you should be making a smooth swing...
I EDC an Omega SuperOcean Chronometre. my only other good watch was stolen, an Omega Seamaster 30. I have an IWC, Jaeger LeCoutre and Panerai on my wish list. Got the wife a Cartier Ronde Solo 36 for Christmas.
Jaeger makes a badass watch. I like Panerai but find I'm very in and out of love with it. The secondary market can be really cyclical with pricing. Good deals can be found pretty regularly on the base/non-limited models. I know a few people who bought new and found themselves holding an expensive paperweight when they went to sell it.
IWC is classic dress watch, but their sport watches are also pretty cool. My special occasion watch is an IWC portuguese chrono in rose. My wife hates it because when I wear it on date night I spend half my time staring at her and half my time staring at my watch!
Jbatman you seem like more than a casual enthusiast--are you part of RedBar DFW?
I never knew there was a Redbar group in DFW
New watch day--been waiting on this for almost a week--DHL had themselves confused from start to finish, but I just went and picked it up
The Black Bay is such a cool piece. I've wanted the Bronze Blue Bucherer for a while now but can't bring myself to pay secondary prices. Congrats on the watch!
