That’s ironic, I have a Speedy day-date that’s ~38mm and I rarely wear it because it is too small on my wrist ha.

And this is why i leave my Rolex TOG in my closet. Heck paying $800 every 3-4 years for a new Apple Watch is cheaper!

Benefit is you can drop it off at the Dallas RSC for free and pick it up when it's ready!

Agreed! But then I think, man it's a tool watch...it should be worn and used as such, not treated like a box queen.....then I laugh, at the irony of all the mods to my 4Runner and the infrequency it makes it off the pavement. Such is life I guess

Tool watch...i hear this a lot...but a mechanical watch cannot stand much “tooling” around (sports, gun range, golfing, or any sudden movement activity) without creating undue stress on the inner gears/parts.
I hate that i had to take off my Rolex when i play football with kids or go to gun range.
I agree that Rolex service is AMAZING! Literally makes your watch brand new again!

You can almost make a comparison to our trucks there- the 4Runner is an offroad vehicle, BUT taking it offroad every day or frequently is going to wear out parts much faster than driving it leisurely around town or to and from work. I don't see it any differently with any mechanical watch. Wearing it daily to work...sure easy. Wearing it to the range, golf or gun, yea there's going to be stress on the internals. It's just the cost of doing business. My sub is my daily wearer, it's been everywhere and done everything with me since 2006 and it's yet to see service. I think you should wear yours more often

Modern mechanical watches can stand a lot more than you're giving them credit for. They absolutely can stand a lot of "tooling" around. I shoot with my watch all the time, both handguns and rifles. There is not much impact in the recoil impulse. Similarly with golfing you should be making a smooth swing, not much impact. I've even chopped wood once while camping wearing my Explorer. It's still keeping well inside of COSC at +1.4s/day and the only time I ever take it off is when I'm doing mechanical work on the 4Runner. That's only for cosmetic purposes too so I don't scratch it. Should you make it a habit of beating the everloving crap out of it? Probably not. I'm not saying go operate a jackhammer or chop down trees or anything with it on, but these watches can take a lot more than people ever want to give them credit for.
Think about the milsubs of old, those got worn in some of the harshest environment and have been banged around more than golf or football with your kids will ever do and they're ticking along just fine.

As an avid golfer this made me laugh! Imagine if 3-putting was hard on the internals....I'd have to service it monthly!

Jaeger makes a badass watch. I like Panerai but find I'm very in and out of love with it. The secondary market can be really cyclical with pricing. Good deals can be found pretty regularly on the base/non-limited models. I know a few people who bought new and found themselves holding an expensive paperweight when they went to sell it.
IWC is classic dress watch, but their sport watches are also pretty cool. My special occasion watch is an IWC portuguese chrono in rose. My wife hates it because when I wear it on date night I spend half my time staring at her and half my time staring at my watch!

The Black Bay is such a cool piece. I've wanted the Bronze Blue Bucherer for a while now but can't bring myself to pay secondary prices. Congrats on the watch!

Thank you! I flipped a steel and gold Black Bay awhile back and didn't think I'd own another due to the fact I have smaller wrists and it's a chunky watch, but when I saw the Harrods Edition I knew I had to have one eventually. Probably the closest thing I'll get to a kermit too with how the market has turned the last couple years
