Water crossing went wrong. Need opinion.

Everything went better than expected, water didn't reached the rear seat, so the trunk area was dry.

Carpet was cleaned and hang to dry.

Dehumidifier and few fan will be left on for the night to get anything we missed.

Btw only wiring on the floor, with few connection wrap in dielectric grease.

Finally put everything back in today. Everything work/smell/look like it suppose to.

It was dark under the dashboard and I installed the carpet over the gas pedal...

Hopefully he found it before starting it.

This is old school but, probably still applies and is something that hasn’t been addressed here.

I had my first Toyota pick-up back in 88. It was an 88 and I DDed it till 96.

Anyway, in the owners manual under maintenance, it stated to lubricate the U-Joints DAILY, if the truck was operated in water.

This probably wouldn’t hurt and may save on premature failure. I think these trucks are actually designed with stuff like this in mind. Your buddy should be fine.

THAT is the only way to thoroughly clean a flooded vehicle. Anyone who does anything less is just wasting their time. You HAVE to gut the whole thing, inspect all of the floor grommets, remove the carpet so that it will dry on both sides then steam clean it before reinstall. You will also be amazed to see how much debris by way of mud & sand will enter the truck when you think that its "only water". A time consuming process, but the only way to do it right and prevent headaches down the road.

Glad to know you guys went the whole distance when rectifying this situation. Too many people claim these trucks are waterproof, and they couldn't be any further form the truth.
