Water dripping off roof onto front seats?

I live in the great white north and currently we are having a lot of wet, slushy weather.

First winter with the 4Runner, and it has surprised the hell out of me that when I open the door the water runs off the roof and into the car. Not like I'm sporting gull wing doors here...seems pretty strange for the seats to protrude beyond the sides of the roof.

I have a full length roof rack so that may be messing with the water shedding properly.

Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

I keep a rag in the door to wipe the seat.

Seriously. My girlfriend lives near the James River and there's heavy dew 9 days out of 10. The water table is 20 feet down - I looked in the well. It's so wet here I've grown used to mowing wet grass the past 2 years. It's almost never dry, even in full afternoon sun. I can nearly clog up a 50" zero turn twice cutting 2 acres.

My 4Runner is really bad for this. I find that wiping my finger along the weather stripping at the top of the door prior to opening helps but it isn't a cure. Just gotta deal with it.

My 4Runner does this as well, front and back. The fabric has spots on it now because of this. I've tried a couple of different things to remove the spots in the fabric but they are still there.

I have other non toyota vehicles / trucks and I have your type of problem esp when the snow flies.... my 2016 T4R I have not had any water or even snow drop down on the seats with the door opening and I do like that change with this type design.

what I do since over the decades having ice cause the doots /sealing rubber to glue down these doors ect. when I buy my new vehicle I use a silicone lube . apply to a sponge or a thick cloth and apply the silicone to all the rubber gaskets. the rubber stays soft and seals perfect even now after 21 yrs on one vehicle I still own.

Yeah same thing happens to me. Used to be, cars had a small "gutter" along the edge of the roof to prevent that. I don't know why they stopped making them that way. Sure, it looks sleeker without the gutter but it's not as practical.
