When I took out the water pump bolts on our 2004 4R 4.0L, they appear to have silicone on the bottom 10mm of the threads. I downloaded the repair manual (Thanks! to whomever uploaded it) and it doesn't say anything about anti-seize, lok-tite or using RTV gasket. I figured steel bolts into aluminum just gets anti-seize. Was the RTV goo just used as a poor-mans lok-tite? The Gasket is crushable metal, but there is a thin layer of something on the old one. Do the gasket or bolts get any thing added to them?
The Gasket I got from AutoZone had the flair around the pump impeller stamped backwards, lucky I saw it, of course, they didn't sell it separately, but they did have me get one from a competitor and paid me the $16 back.
