Just bought a used 2013 4runner SR5 and radio was perfect. Now when I change "mode" i noticed it cycles through XM. Then I noticed if I cycle past AM to FM and click on the presets, or the up and down button on steering wheel which normally goes through presets, I gnow get bunch of XM trial stuff and buttons do not work. Have no desire for XM and hate this kind of stuff. Is there a way I can disable XM?

I don't have a 5th gen so I'm not familiar with the radios in them, but maybe the presets can be set to any source without having to actually select that source prior? Do you have the manual that came with the vehicle? I would check that first to see if that's an option, and if so you should be able to just change that preset. Not for sure, but I doubt you'll be able to eliminate the XM as a source option.

I'm not sure what's going on with your XM radio stations, but if you disconnect the battery for 15 to 20 minutes you'll lose All of the 'presets', (as well as the clock, compass, etc...), so then you can start fresh with a clean data reset. "It's worth a try!" Regards

My Trail does the same thing - if you have the basic radio like me. I don't think there is any way to disable the XM stations from the mode cycle. It sucks because you can cycle through the radio stations and then end up in XM even if you have no sub. This is one of the things I dislike the most about the radio....combine this with not being able to see it with sunglasses on and you're gonna have a bad time on occasion.
Thanks guys. It is a new vehicle for me, but here is what I figured out. I had set multiple presets for different cities I drive through and everything worked fine for few weeks. When I would go through my "modes" from MP3 CD, Bluetooth phone, AM, and then FM it was going to a very high preset that was only XM stations. I have never had XM in my life and never will. These XM stations actually do not work and what it does is give errors every time I would click on my presets and leave me locked in on some XM station with XM advertising. I did not realize I was on the wrong preset because I had never seen XM before and it just pissed me off. I could have avoided it by either changing back to my lower presets or blowing away all the preset stations because there were up. Thanks for the help
