Weathertech owner questions

In the process of ordering all weather mats for my 2013 I'm getting next week, and have a few questions I can't seem to find the answers to by searching.

1. From my searches, looks like Weathertech digital fits are is the most popular option.

2. Does anybody have a Trail Edition with grey mats, how does it look? I'm leaning toward black, but wouldn't mind seeing grey actually in the car. Any thoughts / opinions are appreciated!

3. Is there mat hook on the passenger side? I wasn't ready for that question when I tried to order, and didn't look when I was test driving. I'm assuming it's safe to order 2012 mats for a 2013. Nothing major changed, did it?

4. I can't see a reason not to go with the Toyota OEM cargo liner for the rear. The threads I saw, the liner looked good, said 4Runner, and was slightly less expensive. Open to owner opinions there.

Can't say much for the gray except I used soft scrub on mine to clean em, and it turned the black into grey in some areas.

Yes, both sides have hooks if I remember correctly, and you'll be fine with the mats as long as they are 2010+

For the rear, i'd look into the canvasback cargo liner. I've got one of these on my list. They're $150 i think, but they also cover the back of your seats also.
 
My 2012 has hooks on the passenger side for sure, and I'm guessing they probably won't change that on the 2013 model. It wouldn't really be the end of the world if it didn't come with hooks from the factory, the digitfits comes with a set of new hooks for both sides. I don't see why toyota would go out of their way to remove the holes on the floor pan to mount the hooks on the 2013 model.

For what it's worth if you have the sliding rear tray, the OEM toyota rubber cargo tray material is surprisingly similar to the digitfits, thickness and texture and all. It's a great match in my opinion, but the only problem is it doesn't sit perfectly flat along the edges of the sliding tray since it's a thinner light weight material, unlike thick heavy rubber mats. With that said, I'm still satisfied with the OEM one as far as fit and finish goes.
 
I've had both now. Personally I think the Husky's look better in the 4Runnner while the Weathertecs seem to fit my wife's Rav4 better. Something about the Husky's seems more rugged. Regardless, they both do a good job and will last for years.

The Weathertecs have holes on both sides while the Husky's have spikes covering the entire back of it. Personally I think the whole sliding floor mat thing is a none issue with these. The way both are shaped I can't see either moving ever. It's just not possible with molded form.

I also got the Cavasback for the rear. I've got one and it was good enough for me to order another for our other vehicle. I got the Hawaiian fabric for the wife's car but if I had it to do over again I get the Hawaiian for mine also.
 
I have had the WeatherTechs on a couple of vehicles and really like them.

Went with the Canvasbak for the rear. Nicely made, fits well. dog was NOT happy. They are pretty slick. I used an old piece of rug so that he could stand up and not slide around.
 
I've got Weathertech digi-fits in the front, middle, and rear of my 4R. The front and middle fit great, flush, no wiggle. I think they provide a clean look.

However, the rear mat doesn't have as tight a fit. It slides a bit and I can't get it to lay completely flat in the corners. For what you're spending for the rear Weathertech, you may be better off going with what the others suggested.

I went with black mats, as I have black carpet and tan leather seats.
 
Odd. I have the WeatherTech Digifits and while the truck has "holes" to accept the hooks, my digifits (on the passenger side) are sans holes which is fine with me. I'd rather have less (not more) chance for leakage, where are they going to go? Nowhere.

sound's like you might've gotten the front set without the passenger side floor mat hook support. I distinctly remember that the Weathertech website had two different part numbers for the front set, one for with passenger hooks and one for without passenger hooks.

If you're concerned about minimizing leakage you can always put another set of mats on top of them right? :wink2:
 
Honestly I find the "Anchors" a bit of a paranoia born of the rediculous "Unintended Acceleration" panic of the Toyota flavor no more concern to me than the fabricated Audi 5000 issue of the same ilk.
It's all Bull$h!t Gas on the Right/ Brake on the Left - PUSH on the one you want.
NO vehicle has a powerplant that can over power its Braking System by design. Anyone that doubts that - Go try it.
Floor Mats are not our greatest threat....
 
Just got my 2013 TE. The front floor mat retainers are not hooks, they are twist top clips. Is this the same as the 2010-12? I am trying to figure out how to pull them out. They don't seem to be budging. Any ideas?

I twisted the post so it was horizontal to the seat, then they'll come out.

I had the WeatherTechs and returned them for the Husky's. I like the Husky's a lot better. Fit is similar on both, with a very slight edge to the Husky's, but I like the ruggedness of the Husky's which pushes them to the top for me. The WeatherTech's did have a slight edge as far as looks but it wasn't enough for me to keep them. Another plus is the savings you will have with the Husky's as opposed to the WeatherTech's.

Can't go wrong with either, but given the option, I would go with Husky's.
 
Not sure if the OP is still shopping, but I just received and installed my WeatherTech digital floor liners today. 2012 TE. I ordered the black, and the website asked me if I had hooks on the passenger side or not (I do). The fit is excellent, and I like how the black blends with the carpet. Also- I ordered them directly from the WeatherTech website late Thurs night, and with standard shipping I still got them today!
 
Just thought it was funny that I made the last posting, and out of nowhere the banner in my posting was for WeatherTech. Pretty amazing how internet advertising works. Anyway- not affiliated- just pleased with my purchase.

I did, they should be here Tuesday! I hope there isn't a difference between the 2012 and 2013.
 
Of course Weathertech sent me the wrong mats. They sent the 2010 version. So there is for a change from 2010 to 2011. Hopefully the 2011 to 2013's are the same!
