Anyways, it's obvious I'm a big fan of this product and just wanted people to look into them as an option. I shouldn't downplay weathertechs. I've just owned them myself and was so dissapointed at how they held up. For that kind of money, I would have thought they should have lasted longer.

I have the "carpet" ones, and I'm not impressed. I was specifically looking for something with coverage similar to a weathertech, but not rubber. These where the only option that seemed to fit the bill.

The material is nothing like carpet. Not sure how to describe it...maybe more like velcro. I've had them less than a year and the driver's side is already looking pretty crappy and worn.
 
I've had my weathertechs for about a year and a half, and I haven't had any discoloration or them coming apart or any of that. I'm glad there are options, didn't know there would be such a divide..... if it was for my rig, I'd be open to suggestions, but I'll have to show my lady the options and hear her thoughts.
 
weathertechs are great.... not sure where the guy sucking on 3Dmax is getting his info from.... anyway I will say the rear cargo liner sucks though! Got mine from Autoanything

I've never seen the carpet version, but I'm not sure if any carpet based floor mat would do well given the conditions we put our 4Runners through. I had an oem floor mat (carpet) on my 4th gen and it did not hold up well at all. Never really was able to get it cleaned very well.
 
My weather tech liners are 10 years old in my truck. They do have a discolored wear to them but haven't fell apart or anything. They are floor liners and IMHO, a little discoloration is completely acceptable for the protection they offer. Not cheap but not Chinese either.

I would try a different product but my Runner came with the factory all weather mats which are working out ok.
 
There seems to be some misinformation on this thread. I will clear out with facts.

I have owned the weathertechs, huskys, and the maxspiders. All are great mats and would be an excellent addition to your 4runner.

In regards to fading, all three mats will eventually fade with prolonged sunlight. Depending on color of your mat, it may be faster. I had the weathertechs for 3 years in black color and they faded slightly. Most people would not be able to tell.

3d maxspiders are not simply Chinese knock offs. They are manufactured in China but that is where it ends. The have a complete different look. The texture on the top layer matches that of our dash. They are the only one that has an anti slip bottom layer.

Huskys are the most rugged of the three. They are in the middle for pricing and have a conventional rubber mat look. They, like the weathertechs, are American made.

If you would like my opinion, I would rate the three in these categories (the following remarks are no longer facts but biased):

Toughness/Durability: Huskys
Looks: 3d maxspiders (matches our dash with a flush look)
Coverage: weathertechs (although all are contoured to the sides)
Value: 3d maxspiders
Ease to maintain (wash): huskys (weathertechs have tendency to not fold completely flat after a wash and hanging dry until a few hours)
Traction: Huskys (maxspiders have best traction to stay because of their trademark bottom layer but their tread on the top layer is the least aggressive)
Once again, all are great floor mats. Don't let someone deter you until you see them yourself. I have attached a picture of my maxspiders that I have currently. Amazon has been the best source for me to purchase them from and sometimes they have "like new" ones that can be purchased for significantly cheaper.

I would say look at Huskys. They have "teeth" behind them to grab onto the carpet and not move. WTs are smooth backed and slide around. I was going to go with aires since I had them in my Honda, but I wanted higher "wells" to catch stuff like dirt/water/mud/snow/etc. Price point was better with Husky too.

Thanks for the picture. That helps a lot. For me I've got it down to the Husky or 3D.

Could you post pic of the front mats?

Does anyone have a pics of the Husky mat installed?

We love to do all the outdoories stuff here in CO (skiing, hiking, tailgating at Winter Park / A-Basin in the spring, camping and so on). The rubber of the Husky is pretty cut and dry. When its dirty hose it off. How does the cleaning of the 3D really compare? Can you get the dirt out of the top weave and back to a clean state?
 
In my opinion maxpiders are far better than the weathertech or husky mats. I bought weathertech originally, then returned them and replaced with maxpider. It's a choice between hard plastic or a high quality soft touch plastic material or carpet with maxpider, plus the maxpiders have velcro type material on the bottom so they stick in place and never move. If you were in a store and could hold both in your hand side by side - I don't think anyone would choose the weathertech or husky.

Those do look quality. And I like the Velcro feature. Disclaimer: I don't have a 4Runner. But in my F150, I bought some Husky mats. I'm not sure if this is the case with the 4Runners, but the side lips on the Husky's extend higher, covering more of the carpet. Also, where the door sills are, it extends further. I think that's critical in keeping the snow/mud from seeping through under the mat. That's the only concern I see with those mats.
 
It depends on the model. The weather tech for teh 4runner is probably a bit better on the side. I haven't had any issues with the maxpider getting water or dirt past the side overlap.

I'd rather buy an American made product for my Japanese car... but weathertech needs to update its materials.

The OEM Toyota ones are probably the worst value. I took my rear mat out this weekend to wash it out at the car wash and the "4runner" embroidery is just a sticker that came off. In prior generations it was actually a real embroidered logo. And they cost about $200 for the set from Toyota. At 220k miles in my last 4runner the OEM mats were still in pretty reasonable shape. I don't think the current OEM mats are nearly as high of quality material.

I believe the holding capacity is one drawback of the 3Ds. I don't deal with snow, so it's not been a problem.

The only port option that I had put on my 5th gen were the carpet mats and they are a disgrace to humanity. I don't believe I would even use them to wipe poo from my shoe.

The carpet mats that came with my 2000 Limited must have been sourced from Persia, so much heft and quality they probably negated some fuel economy.
 
Husky

Husky all around. Wouldn't trade'em for any other brand. Heavy duty protection, superb fit. Reasonable price.
 
I have had a set WeatherTechs for 3+ years. They're fine, yeah they faded a tad, the label fell off the passenger side, really I could care less as the have done what they are supposed to do and that is keep all the crap of the cheap ass carpet. (for the most part, the foot rest the liner doesn't go high enough)

Mine didn't fit the kick panel by the door all that well. I called them they sent me another set, no charge. They fit better, still not perfect, regardless good customer service experience.

That all said, my dad just picked up a '17 highlander, it came with OEM liners, they're nice, perfect fit too.

If I were to get another set, the weren't full OEM liners (if they ever make them for a 4R), I would try Husky.
 
After lots of good input, we decided to go with the Husky liner weatherbeaters. They are almost the same price as the weathertechs, but I like the addition cargo coverage.
 
So I ordered them, then cancelled them. I found out we are getting a 2017 at our pre negotiated 2016 price. I can't find on any of the sites if they fit the 17s. Anyone know?
