what the heck? when did the rear liners become 1 piece? I always thought they came in 2 separate pieces. Might need to look into these now

If you are referring to the OEM ones, there are two all weather floor mats made by Toyota.

The regular kind is in 4 pieces (still has the 4Runner logo), the ones from a few post above are the weather liners. They are thicker and nicer IMO. My dealer threw them into my deal, but I ended up selling them later cause I wanted better :)
 
Received my Toyota weather floor liners this weekend and was surprised to find "Made in the USA" on the bottom of them. They seem very well made. I went with the Husky cargo liner as the Weathertech cargo liner had some really bad reviews on Amazon.

i got a set of Michelin Heavy Duty Floor Mat Set from costco for $40-60 for the front and passsenger and they seem to be more rubber than my friends weathermat. The only thing I would look for next time is the rear ones to be 1 piece so the middle part gets covered as well

Ended up with Toyota liners for the front and rear, and then went with Husky cargo liner. I have the standard Toyota all weather floor mats and a Weathertech cargo liner in my 2014 limited and I like the setup in the new 4Runner much more.
 
Not sure why people continue to buy the WT floor liners when Toyota makes their own version seen in the photos above for $100?? Outstanding quality, fit great, work great....save money! WT is overpriced IMO

Cheaper, stronger, better materials... The only reason people buy Weathertechs is because of their brand name and familiarity with it. I'd even go with Husky before I go with Weathertech's again.

That's the first time I've heard someone say that WeatherTech is a ripoff! I am literally on WeatherTech's website trying to find the hood deflector for my 2016 Trail, but I can't find it. I'm going to check out 3D Maxpider. :)

I just got a set of these and the fit is superb. In the absence of the emblem they could pass as factory IMO. Durability and protection jury is still out, but I'd be shocked it they failed to perform well.
 
I just my '17 TRD Off-road Premium and it can with all-weather floor matts. They are way better then what came with the '15 Limited.

I'll see how they work out but so far I don't see replacing the '17s.

I bought the Toyota floor liners and they fit nice and are well made. However I have a couple gripes. The edges aren't cut the best...I have a lot of excess flashing I had to trim and the passenger side floor liner has a nick/cut on one edge where it looks like it came out of the mold funny. Not sure if I should try to warranty them or not. Second I'm not a fan of how floppy the dead pedal cover part is. I noticed after having them in for a couple months that it seems like the flexible/floppy liner there is rubbing the carpet down next to the plastic foot pad molded to the carpet. The carpet cleaned up ok, but I'm a bit concerned if whether the driver liner would start to wear thru the edge of the dead pedal carpet with time. I dunno.

One big reason people buy Weathertech is the fact they are made in the U.S. I looked and the Maxpider's are made in Malaysia. Many may not care, but a lot do. I'm a Marine and have spent time in Southeast Asia. You have to look pretty hard to find U.S. Imported goods over there. I'll support our folks here and gladly pay a little more to do so. I know...I know the irony of this post as I put my U.S. Made floor mats in a Japanese car. However, there is no acceptable U.S. Made equivalent. I didn't say I would throw my money away on an inferior product to support the U.S. When their is a high quality, acceptable U.S. alternative I buy it.
 
I love my Weathertechs

I got these the day after I got my truck and couldn't be happier. They do a great job covering the edges. They're currently caked in about 1" of mud and snow and the interior is spotless! Worth every penny!
 
Does anyone know if the 2016 FloorLiner will fit in a 2017? Weathertech's website doesn't show that they don't make the FloorLiner for 2017s, but I don't think anything has changed between 2016 and 2017 models that would lead to the floor mats not fitting properly.

You are correct, nothing changed. They will fit.
