weeeee's build thread

Curious weeeee but does your full RCO underbody skids include a skid for the gas tank? Been contemplating about getting one or not. Didn't know if it was just RCI trying to sell me more crap or not.

Yeah the RCI skids come in three pieces- just the engine, transmission, and transfer case skids. Gas tank I had to get separately as well. I got the main three in steel and the gas tank in aluminum to save a little weight.

Haven't been building or modding much, been too busy actually getting out enjoying trips more. I'm continuing to tweak a few things here and there, more on that later. Besides a re-gear and a reconfiguration of my cargo area, I'm pretty sure I'm done for the most part.

I can't believe it's been a year already since the last time I was out in Joshua Tree.

Random collection of photos from our Joshua Tree trip last month with NoOneBetter and a few more friends. Had the pleasure of finally meeting Gabex35 who joined in on a few trail runs, and got a chance to catch up with Drunner97 for a few minutes.

Wife is grinning while she drives the truck, which is nice. Hopefully she doesn't see the mod list here...

Indel-B Hinge Flip Mod

I wasn't satisfied with how the Indel-B fridges open up, since it's really difficult to open inside of the car on account of the lid opening. By doing this mod, I flipped the hinges so the lid opens up sideways vs. lengthwise. Now you can open the fridge from the passenger seats, and it will allow you to open the fridge with less clearance between the top of the fridge and the headliner. You should be able to do this mod with any of the fridges (ARB, National Luna, Edgestar, etc.).
.

I know this is an old thread but by chance do you have a link to the hinge and latch hardware you used? The lid on my Indel-B just broke and I'd rather do this than pay $80 for a new lid.

These photos show how amazing these places look. What would you rate these trails at, 1-5 level? I want to get on some moderate trails, I still am running stock everything. Is Eagle Lake easy to get to? I really like the open camping rather than camp sites.

Totally missed this, sorry! Sent you a PM, let me know if you have questions.

When I ran it last year, it was probably 2-2.5/5. You'll need high clearance to get to camp but doable in a stock truck if you have a good spotter and watch your diff placement so you don't get stuck. This road leads you to the Fordyce Creek junction, don't make a wrong turn or you'll end up on the Fordyce :P

This year after the snow melt will be interesting to see what's moved around etc. after the snow melt. The Sierras got a ton of snow this year and probably won't thaw out until mid July.

Plenty of good fire roads and rocky trails near Vacaville: Plumas, Tahoe/Carson, Mendocino, etc. On NFS adminstered lands you can dispersed camp anywhere with minimal restrictions. Just check their respective websites (some have fire restrictions, day limits, must camp away from marked roads or water sources etc.) but general rule of thumb is you can basically set up camp almost anywhere where you aren't blocking access.

Death Valley 04/2017

Made it out to DVNP last month with NoOneBetter chmura1 and a few others. It was my first time out that way and only did about a quarter of the park. I'll probably hit it back up in the fall.

About half the pics are courtesy of NoOneBetter.

Was a little windy. Also proceeded to allow my door to fly wide open. Now it won't shut correctly lol. In all fairness everyone had a little door trouble.

Lost my brand new brakes on the downhill. EBC Green and Stoptech rotors toasted. I guess running Lippencott and South Pass downhill, followed by Cerro Gordo were a little too much.

How the heck are you running those 305's?
I have the same lift, spacers, bmc, and I'm running 255s. I can't see 305's not rubbing on my rig.

Looks awesome btw

It fits! :boink:
I'm running similar stuff, and my 305s fit with plenty of clearance when I removed my wheel spacers (1.25" Spidertrax). No rub.

I have since put on 1" BORA spacers and had to trim a little more of the fender liner in the back of the front wheel wells. Stuffs nicely on the trails.
