Well time to trade the 07 for 15- what do I need to know?

After 6 years with my 07 SR5 it's time to trade. I'm ordering an SR5 premium 4wd with third row. I've been told by my dealer that on the 15's if you order a third row it automatically comes with running boards. Has anyone else heard that? Don't really want them but no big deal. What else do I need to know before ordering? Any hidden special locking diff pkg I need to know to order?

Thanks for the help! After so long with my forth gen I pumped to get a fifth gen!
Really wished the 5th gen had the center diff in the sr5's like my 4th gen does though.

Running Boards

You will miss the low end torque from your V8, but the V6 has plenty of power, just in the higher rev range. As one of the other members said - push it and it will go.

IMO - the running boards sounds like a dealer story and a dealer add on, not factory. I ordered a TE and running boards were a dealer option, not port or manufacturing for any of the 3 models. That was way back in July of 2012, could be different now, but I doubt it. --- *&^%#$ dealers.

The dealer is a freind so I was in the morning and we ordered it. He tried to put it in without boards but it flooded back in with them. So he called the rep and he confermed that the boards are now part of the 3rd row pkg. which I guess if fine with me as I have 4 kids and I'm sure they will get used.

I ordered a 15 SR5 premium with 3rd row in mag grey with tan guts.

Should be here in Oct!

So here is a big delema for me. I have 2013 fj wheels on my 07. Do I keep them and put the sr5 wheels on my 07. Dealer said he could care less. The FJ wheels are 17x7.5 with a 30mm offset and I think the stock sr5 are 17x7. Anyone seen 14-15 with fj wheels. Mine are off a 13 and look a lot like the 13 trail rims but are a little darker. I thought they might look good with mag grey.

That sounds a bit optomistic for a factory order from Japan! I would think at least November. That said, I'm always pleased to see somebody else who has the patience, and dealer repore, to do a true factory order. I bought a 2014 SR5 with a factory order and have an order in now for a 2015. It is great to pick exactly what I want (and don't want) and then just sit back and wait. That's a whole lot less stress than I'm reading about in some of the other "dealer order" threads.

I would trade in the 4runner with the sr5 wheels back on it. Keep the FJ wheels they would fit the new 4runner quite well. It would look more like the TE wheels from 10-13. Nice look. The sr5 wheels from the 4th gen would not look right on the 5th gen IMO.

If I read your post correctly, you're contemplating swapping the wheels/tires from your new SR5 (when it comes in) with the FJ wheels currently on your 2007 trade in. I don't think there's a right or wrong here. Myself personally, I'm not a big fan of swapping any factory components for something different (especially wheels). I know that places me in an extremely small minority in a forum like this, but it is probably just my minimalist/OCD nature. Also, you would be trading brand new tires for tires that are a year or two old, which is probably not good business....

Sounds great. Personally, I'll take any color combination as long as it is Super White with Black interior. Here in Arizona, if you plan to keep a vehicle more than five years, white is the only way to go. It keeps the car cooler and the paint will look great forever. Anything metallic will start to oxidize from the sun. I like black interior because it never shows any dirt and to my eye just look nicer than the lighter colors.

I sold the stockers. If I do swap wheels the dealer said they would swap tires. So I'd have the 13 FJ wheels with the new tires that come with the new 15. Then the dealer would have my 07 with the 15 sr5 rims with my used tires.

Correct. They will work and look great. I have the '13 FJ eight hole wheels on my '14 SR5.

I would swap the rims if only for the benefit of the 7.5" wide rim allowing you to safely mount LT 285s if you so choose at a later date per the tire manufacturer specs on most websites. That's what I've read as people's biggest beef with the 7" wide rim. Plus I think the FJ wheels look better than the new SR5 wheels.
