Westin Bull Bar vs Westin Safari Bar - questions

So I want to get a bar in the front of my 08 4runner, I really like the looks of the Westin Bull Bar with NO skid plate. But they already sell a product like that called the safari bar, it is half the price and uses a different mounting kit.

My main question is what makes the bull bar so much more costly? Just the skidplate?

Has anyone ever compared the 2 side-by-side? The Safari bar looks cheaper, but is it? or does it get the job done? OR what other bull bar company should I be looking at.

Can't really answer your question, but neither will offer much protection. IMO go with the Steelcraft bull bar. It's much more durable than the Westin and also cheaper. Several here are running them. Also, it comes with a skid plate but it's removable. Best place I know of to get it is Auto Accessories & Aftermarket Parts at AutoAnything | Truck Accessories & Car Accessories | Floor Mats, Tonneau Covers & Car Covers. They typically have a promo code going to make it an even better deal. My only advice is to call to verify the item is in stock before ordering, several folks have had pretty lengthy delays with out of stock items from them (and you won't know this until order is processed).

Nice reply, I actually like the look of the steelcraft better and knowing for sure that it does allow you to remove and/or put on the skid plate at anytime is a bonus for me.

No problem! The Steelcraft mounts in four locations vs the Westin only mounts in two, making it much more durable. Seems to be a great option.
