Wet driver's side floor (under mat)

So whats the part number for that exterior A pillar trim? Im going to call my windshield guy and have him come and reinstall.

Looking through this thread I found only one link that takes me to a main page.

I didn't come across a part number in time. So, I had the windshield guy fill the holes. Turns out that mine was leaking from an improperly installed windshield.

...and, of course, the place that did it won't return my phone calls.

Drain Hole Location

Still struggling with issue. Could someone explain where I need to shimmy down a wire to check if drain holes are functional? I only know of the one below windsheild after removing the cowl cover piece.

Droped the car off at collision center to (hopefully) find leak. He wont charge me if he does not find it. Fingers crossed

I ended up having the windshield replaced and I watched them to make sure it was done right. Wasn't too much I think I paid 160 for it. No more wet floor for me

Update: Took to mechanic with several forum posts printed (lol) and described my situation. He was able to replicate problem to sunroof and its 4 drainage tubes. I cleared out front two with thick weed eater rope. The rear two drains are unaccessible without removing the entire headliner. Will test for water leakage later this week Now that front two drains are (hopefully) clear.

Finally Fixed

Last Thursday I took my 4runner to the dealer for a major service. The updated a recall, changed the coolant, all the other fluids and cleaned out the TB and injectors. I told them about the leak I was struggling to correct. They did some further checking and believed it was probably the windshield.

On Monday I had the windshield replaced. This was the second windshield. The professional showed me where the adhesive had failed along the drivers side edge and bottom of the glass. The shop that had previously installed the windshield had a history of adhesive failure issues, causing leaks.

I was guaranteed that there were no further issues to worry about. Right now I'm convinced that if all the other vents, drains, ect. are clear you should look at the windshield. If it's not a factory windshield then consider having it replaced. Now I'm drying out the carpet padding. One of the other members changed out his windshield and resolved the issue. I wish I would have done it sooner.

Very glad to hear!!! Right now my headliner is off and all the sunroof tubes are accessible. After clearing them with weed eater hose and then making it rain with a hose everything seems to be OK. Not going to put headliner back on though until it rains.

I had the windshield pulled. The installer removed it without breaking it. Apparently what was supposed to be a reputable shop used faulty adhesives. It failed along the drivers side edge, rating a leak. Windshield installed correctly and no leak so far.

Update: Problem completely fixed. long story very short - check your sunroof drains. It's apparently not uncommon for them to get clogged. The water fills up in the sunroof tray then gravity takes the water, drips down the a pillar, through the foot well and soaks the carpet. FML

It's fixed.

You can salvage the carpet by drying it out in the sun or using a fan. The under padding or technically called "jute padding" absolutely MUST go as mold will develop.

I bought a few square feet of jute padding from www.stockinteriors.com

May this problem never curse anyone.

I have a wet drivers side floor mat....I can not find the leak for the life of me.

The sunroof is okay, this drains okay.

I got my garden hose out and started wetting down the car, and could not see where the leak was coming from...

How much water do you need to use ?

I took out the rubber stopper in the middle of the drivers side floor and it was wet in there..but none made it past the stopper.

Any clues on what I should do next ?

Make it rain. And I mean literally. Throw as much water On the top of the sunroof as you can for as long as you can. Have someone do it outside of the car while your inside with a flashlight. An honest 15 minutes - let wherever and whatever is getting clogged get clogged till it overflows. Use two hoses if you can.

I can tell tell you right now that the sunroof could very well be the issue. Mine was and had no idea.

2004 limited passenger side leak

Let's start off that it's only heaviest of rains, not a heater core problem as I thought at first. Water seems to come in at some point from front window seal. The water is leaking inside from the dash, about to the point of just right of the glove box. But drips straight down into my weather mats. Slow drips miss and go to the carpet which I wish it could just pool up on the actual mat. If if it was coming from some point of front window seal. Where would it be getting down that low to drip into the floor board at that low of an entry point by the glove box... Scares me that it's looking up higher in the dash... Electronics. Malfunction. That sort of thing, anyone else have the drip from this point? Any ideas? Thanks guys

Have you made it rain? Are you sure it's not coming from sunroof.

I'm pleased to inform that the holes in A-Pillar were definitely source of the leak.
Since I sealed them, there's absolutely no water coming in - and we have a lot of rain poring down during the winter.
Marine silicone is holding up so far ;-)

I just bought a 2008 t4r and we just had a major rain , drivers floor got wet. I found out the windshield was replaced 3yrs ago and the truck has been garage kept so "maybe" the prev owner didn't know. Anyway I'm hoping to discover what you have outlined in your leak investigation.

I just bought a 2006 Limited 4x4 last week. When I got home noticed the floors were wet. I though maybe it was from the dealer shampooing the carpet before I got there to pick it up. But then noticed it again after driving home from work in the rain the other day. Glad I found this forum. I checked the windshield and it still has the part that others are missing not sure if the windshield has ever been replaced. The carfax was clean. one owner never in an accident. no mention of windshield replacement. Last night on the drive home it rained. I noticed the floor getting wet again not to bad. Also noticed there were drips of water on the seat behind me. I took the a-pillar molding off and it was wet from the very top. I cleared the sunroof drains in the front but not sure how to access the ones in the back. Do I need to remove the headliner to access them? Again thanks to everyone that has posted in this forum. Lots of helpful info.

I hope the leak issue is history. I used a trombone brush to probe a hole (under hood hinge) which seems to be directly above the kickplate wiring area which is where i saw the water streaming down. So I put a rubber cork in the hole.
FYI, The trombone brush is THE tool to use on a 2006 and newer Miata MX-5 to rod out rain drains.

So I have soaked the truck with a hose and no water on the floor. The other day driving home form work drove through a section where it had just rained and was sprinkling just a bit. got home and floor was soaked. Hasn't rained in a few days so the floor dried out. Last night my truck was parked in the driveway and it poured rain last night for a good 3 hours. went out this morning to check and the floor and it is bone dry. I think the water is coming in from below somewhere when driving in the rain. Anyone have an Idea of where the water could be coming from then?
