What air filter does everyone run

NAPA Gold. Supposed to come off the same line as Wix. I'd order OEM filters off Amazon but that requires a level of patience and planning ahead that I just don't have.

I use a microgard from Oreilleys cause honestly is a flippin air filter. I'm not looking to filter out pet dander and microbes and make the air smell spring fresh. I'm sure I'll have to park on the peasant section at the Overland Expo West because of that.

My tru-flows are both 10 years old now...I'll have to keep an eyeball on them though they both currently look good.

Every car/ motorcycle I have ever owned (and that is a lot) I have always just bought whatever basic air filter from Auto Zone. STP or whatever. They are cheap, and I change them well before they need it. Never had any issues. Actually on my Harley, I made the intake on it. Now I get those no name cylinder-shaped 4" air filters that you can get at any auto parts store in the nation.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I use a foam filter because all of my wheeling is in the desert or Pismo where it is very dusty. I know the foam filters can hold a lot of material. Its a bummer you can's get the trueflows any more, i really like them.

Looks like i will be switching back to what ever is locally available once this thing really dies.

Napa gold paper style. Good filter, a little more pleating than OEM (more filter area = more air flow?), cheap. I will never run a "performance" style filter on a truck that drives dirt roads--they let too much crap in.

85k on the vette, 45k on my last car, 107k on the current car, 225k on the last truck. No issues to date. I read about all of these stories of people with oiled filters and their sensors getting messed up but have never actually met anyone in person and all of my friends run oiled filters.

I ran K&N for years on all my mustangs, never a problem. A few months after installing an oiled filter I was getting a MAF code. Eventually had to replace the sensor. The code went away and I switched out the filter. Didn't think there was any benefit anyway.

I've been running that oiled truflow for a long time, 70k+ miles. Never had a problem with it. But that is why I am running the oiled foam filter and not an oiled cloth filter.

I ran a k&n in my Subaru wrx for 100k miles and never had a problem. And so did every other guy I knew driving a Subaru at that time. And I have had a truflow in the runner for as long as I've had it. 40k miles. Haven't had a problem. Fingers crossed. I think they get over oiled. With the oil in an aerosol now it helps a lot with that. I clean my MAF every so often though. It's kind of on my maintenance schedule. Maybe that's why I've been so lucky.

Another tic in the OEM box.

I ran a K&N for a while and while I never had a maf issue but I was getting oil in the intake, I barely oiled the filter after cleaning. I also noticed a slight decrease in MPG with it.

Cleaned the MAF, it was dirty and went back to OEM.

I do run K&N in other cars with no issues however.

For what it's worth -OEM or stock equivalent for me. It works great. Have tried the oiled aftermarket type for other cars without any Ooohs and Aaaahs and wound up with the stock filters once again.

I use a K&N drop-in filter, because that's what was in there when I bought the truck. I bought an OEM paper filter, which I carry and will use when I am in the dirt. I don't need the extra power and I do think the OEM paper filter is the best filter for the engine.

Really, aren't we splitting hairs with air filters? When maintained properly (oil changes, mainly), the engine runs fine to 400k+ miles. A crappy air filter isn't going to take 50k or more miles out of the engine. I mean... am I right?

I do like this idea though. I think I am going to start carrying a paper oem for when I get on dusty road or trails.

Air Raid Dry Filter.

Been in there for almost 3 years and the inside of intake just on the other side of filter is clean as a whistle.
Great flow, lifetime filter, no oil to mess with and dirty the MAF.
