What are these electrical connectors?

***Dangit, the pictures got rotated and PostImage won't seem to post them right even after I rotate them..working on it.***

Hi, all. When underneath the 'runner this afternoon spraying some penetrating oil on the O2 sensor studs/nuts I noticed a couple un-connected connectors which I had never noticed before. In the pictures you can see that the housings are different colors, one gray and one black. They are both loose, and on the driver's side of the tranny.

The bottom one goes directly underneath the tranny and plugs into something (picture 2). The top one disappears into the engine compartment and without taking a lot of time I couldn't trace it very well.

Any idea what they are and if I should do something about them?

Not sure But all mine do connect

to connectors of the same color, the wire the connector goes to sometimes differs but connector color matches, if that helps. Mine is an '01 and has 2 connectors on left side and 2 on right. It may be different than yours due to changes between 2000 and 01-02 units though the thought that all connectors down there connect. Good luck, let us know what you find out.

you dont have any dash lights on?

does 4wd work? what about ECT?

EDIT: if i am understanding my '98 FSM correctly... there are only qty 2, 2-wire harness-to-harness connectors. see if your 4WD works... the other is water temp and i assume that would cause a CEL

of course your 2000 could have different connectors...

EDIT 2: so i just skimmed some of your old posts, and found the one where you think your 4wd LED is burned out in the dash. maybe its this connector??

I have used my 4wd as recently as last week, as winter is doing it's best to hang tough here in NE Ohio! It could be something to do with that indicator light, though. I have never seen the CEL come on in the nearly 2 years I have had the truck. Not that I really have expected it to come on at anytime, but that does seem a bit suspicious.

4WD indicator light is connected to the position switch on the front diff (since diff only engages after TC engages, this is all it needs.) So it's not that. Could be one of the TC or trans switch switch connectors.

CEL should come on after you first turn the key before you start the truck.

What is strange is the connectors seem to both be there (male/female sides), the wires to the male side are missing. I took a couple pics of mine but I can't seem to get the same angles and the wiring looks a little different on an'01 somehow.
