What Batteries are you using?

From my build thread...
I started looking at dual batteries, I know I could make them fit, but it gets really expensive once you figure in the price of two batteries and the isolator system. So that killed that idea.
So I’m stuck with one battery, and I wanted something that I could exchange locally if there was another issue. That pretty much left the Duralast AGM line through AutoZone. I looked through their selection comparing specifications on each model until I said screw it, I’m getting the biggest battery they make and stock in my local store!
So I bought a Duralast Platinum AGM H8, or group 49, and as you would imagine the numbers are better than the Yellow Top.

Guys I'm all for getting a good battery or batteries, but I'm more for getting the right battery.
What are you doing with it/them? Do you have a winch? Do you have a fridge? Do you run aux lights or stereo for long periods of time? Do you just want it to start so you can make it to Comic-com on time?
Figure out what your load requirements and that will tell you what you need in the way of batteries.
Me? Once I get my fridge installed I'll go to two smaller capacity batteries. I'd love to do two of the Odyssey PC1100's, but they're $330 each! Plus cabling, isolator, etc. I'd be in it near a grand.

Consensus seems to be that battery tech is pretty good no matter who you buy from
About the same maybe, but not all that good compared to batteries of yore. "Lifetime Guarantee" batteries used to be pretty common - essentially 7 year batteries - but no one offers them any more.
OTOH, the new batteries are cheap - very cheap. An $85 JC Penney lifetime guarantee battery bought in 1976 would cost about $365 today. A 5 year Duralast will only make 2-3 years but costs around $100 and even with pro rating (free replacement for the first three years) it's smokin' deal.

My brother traded his car in today and I took his second battery out of the trunk. Sucks we didn't have any tools though. We had to leave a bunch of his stereo system in it. FYI, cutting through 4awg with a pocket knife is not fun.
Now for a battery isolator, big 3, and build a battery tray.
Anybody recommend any isolators or kits?
I like free.

I recommend going with an Automatic Charging Relay instead of an isolator. Makes things much simpler and then you don't have to be messing with remote sensing chargers and regulators.
I went with Blue Sea for my ACR. Marine rated, tough and robust.

Funny you posted that. I spent the better part of the night researching it, and the blue sea system was what I decided on. How has it worked for you?

Installed an interstate 24f, new plugs and wires. Actually seems like it doesn't start up as well as it did before. Thoughts?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It works like a champ. No issues with it, it is a very solid piece of equipment.
The best and longest lasting battery I've ever used was the original MOPAR battery on my 98 Grand Cherokee. It lasted 10 years (of which - 8 years in Arizona heat) but I was getting a bit concerned and replaced it as a part of preventive maintenance. It lasted another 3 years in my camper.
