i cant never get my running boards to shine and they always look dry and old what can i do to make them shine plz help

back to black is good stuff but it lacks anti oxidants and uv protectors that are really required for trim bits (especially black ones).
If you want something that will provide a like new look without being overly glossy try Cockpit Premium.

Won't that stuff make the running board greasy? Causing you to slip or putting grease stains on your pants leg?

I just got a bottle of Meguiar's Trim Detailer a few weeks back and used it on all the black exterior plastic when I finished my wash/detail. It restores/maintains black color for the grille, mudflaps, and in your case, running boards. I didn't find that it was greasy or shiny... it just made the plastic look clean and black like it was new. Pretty good stuff. I assume the Back to Black is similar, but I haven't tried it.
so far i've been very satisfied with just a simple green dilution to clean it. I'm hesitant to use any of my other trim restoring products because of the traction issue. We'll see if I find something later that works, but for now, cleanliness is all. Might add a layer of armor all or something if i hit a show.
