Went remote camping with kids on the lake and on the way back came around a corner and hit a huge washed out rut (lots of rain here in AZ this year) on a cliff road and the whole side of the road started collapsing and started to slide over and almost tipped. I had no options to safely move it, was totally alone with the kids and since it was a cliff side road there were absolutely no options to winch it out. Fortunately we didn't roll over and I had a InReach device and hit the SOS button and was quickly able to contact help. But there was a bit of miscommunication and they thought it was much worse and sent a helicopter, so my kids took a ride back with them to the aid station where my wife picked them up and I waited for recovery truck. It drove out back home fine but the front drivers side wheel now is tilted in and back some, nearly rubbing the upper ball joint, to drive straight the steering wheel is off almost 90 degrees and some of the offroad multi terrain and traction control lights are on or blinking and won't go off. It drives but just barely, got it in with Toyota to look at, expect some serious work, just curious if anyone has any idea what might be broken/need replacing.

Would a Pull Pal have helped? Glad you are all OK.

Yeah pull pal wouldn't have worked at all. Problem was probably 80% chance could have tried to pull off a scraggly old tree trying to grow out of the cliff but if it busted loose there was a good chance it would flip down the hill and be totaled so I punted waited for a solid anchor. But USAA reimbursed for the whole cost of recovery and damage to steering is minimal, should be back up and running shortly

My 2017 TRD Offroad non-premium does not have the driver side grab handle. Wonder how much that trim piece cost. My wife told me the other day that she wished the vehicle came with one.

There is no option. I purchased a passenger side handle and custom fabricated a bracket that i then mounted to the structure under the existing trim and installed a very oem factory looking handle at the drivers side A-pillar. [emoji41]

I guess my order of the bolt covers were for tan interior and not my grey.....stupid online Toyota part website didn't specify or give alternates.....oh well...I called a local dealer and they are ordering me the right color covers...

Yes....a-pillar comes off with a single bolt that is hidden under the "srs curtain airbag" cover. Remove bolt and then grab and pull.....

The bracket is a steel welded part.....has nut plate and I drilled two undersized pilot holes and then used self tapping screws to mount it....it's very similar to the oem mount.....

I'm having it 3d printed....and local machine shop can fabricate a baller machined part with precise measurements and such but I kind of think it's overboard for a hidden unseen item....

I guess you can call the one I made a DIY bracket. Steel...welded etc....

I can take a Pic when I make another....this one is hidden and in use....

Because yu have a steering wheel and an overhead handle. Most people only have two arms.

Well....I originally thought so too...but I found another thread that bished* about not having the grab handle and someone posted this jem of a pic below showing how the airbag deploys on the passenger side and I compared drivers side configuration to passenger side and you can clearly see from the pic that the handle doesn't interfere.....it deploys and pushes the seal and trim end along the window away...

Remove both a-pillar trims on driver and passenger side and you can see what I'm talking about...it takes 5 min to have them both off.....

I teach driver's training at work and we tell guys to never grab the wheel to get in the vehicle. This is to prevent damage to the bearings and telescope linkage for the cab tilt. Of course I've never seen said damage occur. Also, all for doors have grab handles. [emoji6]
