These fit right in under the clear panel and are insanely bright. I bought this exact link and did my 4th gen, now my 5th gen. I ended up taking them out of the backseat bulb spot because it was too bright for the kids back there (infant baby)

Took the Runner to the dealership to diagnose the front end grinding that I've been experiencing the last couple of weeks, I was suspecting a bearing or seized caliper since it got worse with braking. Just got a call from the dealer and he said that it was a bearing issue in the front dif, and that it went away when you put the truck into 4WD. He said they had to run around to source some parts and gaskets, but that they were able to get everything replaced under warranty and the truck is done! Hopefully this solves the front end grinding, that shit was driving me insane!

This was on your 2017 4Runner ? How many miles do you have on it ? Strange that something like that would fail so soon

Threw on some 285/70/17 BFG K02s and got an alignment. No rubbing (even at full lock). Drives so much nicer...bring on the snow!

It's a Freespirit Journey XL Basecamp. It's a 2016 model, so a predecessor to their overland trailer. Great starting point, going to modify it just a bit. But it was a steal of a deal!

My 240sx has a killer system that hasn't been used this year (car has been "under construction"). So I stole the subs and one of the amps out of that car and transplanted it to the 4Runner.
Paired with the other JL speakers in the truck, this sounds awesome now! It's 2 JL 8w3's running off a 300.1 JL amp.

It's a temporary setup. When it's in the car, the box is a rear seat replacement. I literally moved the box from the back of the car to the 4R. One of these days I'll have a complete amplified system in the 4R with a custom box (or boxes, maybe one on each side?). I just don't have the $$$$ to do it at the moment.

I suspect it was the needle bearing that went out on the driver's side axle up front. This is a very common issue with 4Runners and FJ Cruisers, and even more so if you've lifted it any. There doesn't seem to be a magic number of miles that has to elapse before it happens either.

The dealership probably replaced it with new needle bearings, which will go out again eventually. East Coast Gear Supply has a nice clamshell bushing that you can use instead of the needle bearings, to fix it once and for all. Link for that part follows, and there are several videos detailing the installation process on YouTube. The average shade-tree mechanic should be able to do this retrofit / repair on their own with a few easily obtainable specialty tools. Some dealerships can be talked into doing it if you supply the parts.

Driver's Side Apillar Handle Install

Couldn't understand why my Wife's GX460 has a driver's side apillar handle and my Runner does not. Well it does now!

Install wasn't actually that bad. Bought the same 2018 handle on the passenger side and of course installed it inverted.

Behind the ABS signature cover there is a bolt which is the top bolt for the handle. For the bottom I used some customization to make a mount for the lower part of the handle. With a couple of slight trims to the apillar molding it was fitted and darn OEM looking.

When I loose my junior member status I will post up a how to on this.

Added some steps today

Added some steps today. Fitment is good, super easy to install. Not the fanciest but I like the quality. Each side is about 40lbs, powder coated and feel very sturdy.

My truck only has 11K miles on it, they said there's a tech service bulletin about this, apparently a batch of trucks received a defective part. Drives like a brand new truck now, even my steering wheel shake is gone. Definitely glad I got it repaired

Yes it was the needle bearing, the dealer indicated that there was a bad batch of these that went in during manufacturing, it was driving me nuts for a couple weeks, I'm so glad that I got it fixed
