Thanks man. It's metal as of now. May go to aluminum in the future to get some weight savings. So far so good but I am waiting for this spring/summer to actually get it off the pavement.

That's actually a great idea. I have no rattles what so ever. I only have the front currently so not much weight but try picking it up, the thing is pretty heavy. I will probably pick up some aluminum ones soon. His shop is up the street from where I work so there's no rush for me.

Finally got around to taking a few quick pictures of the progress I've made over the past month. You guys have helped tremendously. So far I've installed the Gobi, Rigid lights with otrattw switches in front of the shifter, cobra 75 cb which is hidden in the center console, duratracs, and RCI skids. Still waiting on my sliders and a lift.

Yeah, I had figured everything has already been done before and I have been copying most everyone's work. Once it's not 20 degrees in Denver, I will go back through and start one. I have pretty much taken photos along the way, its just a matter of starting it.

Installed my stealth rack this weekend. I don't know how some of you guys man handled the install solo. My buddy and I got it done in about an hour. I am installing the ladder later this week since we have nice weather. Is there a trick to get the top plate installed? The plate didn't seem to fit.

Ok so today I washed the Warthog.

Yesterday I spent all day getting it dirty in Borrego, a mainden voyage of sorts. Some pics:

This is at the old PBY dock at the Salton Sea Test Base. An old military installation where they were testing the atomic bomb detonators and shell casing designs and other things. When it came time for the nuke bits they decided to move to Nevada. Not much left of the base but a few out buildings, the dock and some stuff laying around. All very old and very rusty,

Heading down Basin Wash to the Pumpkin Patch. Just popped up a steep little berm testing out the 4 low with ATRAK. Couldn't get a picture of it coming up the hill though, was by myself.

Also visited Split Mountain and Fonts Point. Drove past Truckhaven and the 4x4 obsticle course but not quite ready to take the baby there yet

It is not too far south of the Borrego-Salton Seaway about halfway between the two. 17 Palms, 5 Palms and Una Palma are all right near each other and the Pumpkin patch not too far away. Very northern edge of the SVRA area.

The actual trail to it from the north is Arroyo Salado. 3-4 miles from the highway. THen pumpkin patch another 3 miles further.

If coming from ocotillo Wells You go north till you come across the Cut Across Trail, take that east all the way to the end and keep going north as much as possible.

Course having a map will help a LOT finding it

For google maps/earth 33°15'17.34"N 116° 6'38.63"W

17 Palms has a "mail box" with notbooks and stuff for signing in and one had a treasure map! THough like all treasure maps, half of it was missing

I've just got the basic mirror and it's stem is odd shaped so the blendmount wont work. My one gripe about the car. Is there a Toyota accessory mirror with homelink that can be easily installed?

I brought the lug nut key to the body shop so they could fix my wheel. I learned that the lug nut key is only for the driver's peace of mind. Thieves learned a long time ago that you can bang a 14mm socket on the "locked" lug nut and remove the nut easily. I think I don't need the false peace of mind the locked lug nut provides.

It's true that you can take off keyed lug nuts very easily, BUT it is still an extra step vs no keyed lug nuts at all. Let's put it this way, if you have two identical cars in the parking lot with identical rims, one locked with a keyed lug nut and one without. Which car would a thief be more likely to steal from if they were out to steal a set of those wheels?

Security is about deterrence, not prevention. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it, but it doesn't mean we should just not bother, lol.

Sucks to be on the side of the road, needing to change a tire, when you realize the shop never gave your lug nut key back (BTDT).
