Took a day trip out to Linville and drove the Blue Ridge Pkwy from Blowing Rock down to 221 (sorry for the pic dump).
What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

those pesky safety measures are always slowing things down.
that is super sketchy. vehicles fully in the air, all wheels off, supported by only floor jacks. i would freak the F out if i found my truck like that.

Still pretty rough! Really wish I had aired down. I will be researching the hell out of an on-board compressor now!
Anyone know where I find the bracket to bolt the ARB compressor or the VIAIR under the hood? Is that all custom work?
GREAT pics of that trail from back then. It looks about the same. The top part where your photos are from is still nice, but once you start going down into sedona the rocks are nasty.
The 5100s and the BFG KO2s did an excellent job even running at 45psi... I think a kidney belt would have helped me a bit. HAHA!

45 psi? Why so high? The normal running pressure is around 32 psi, correct? I typically run 20 psi with the OEM and after market tires though when off-highway.

On my setup, which is pushing 5900lbs, I run 44-45 for highway use. Just make sure your tires are good and that shouldn't be an issue.

I had them at 40psi originally, and they seemed soft and mushy. I went with 45 to see if I could get a little more tenths of MPGs since most of my driving is on-road.
32psi is for passenger rated tires. I have LTs now.

Too bad we didn't cross paths. We drove the BRP from Asheville up to Blowing Rock yesterday.
The Mount Mitchell area was windy and freezing cold yesterday. I snapped this pic of a classic BSA and classic BMW who were ridden by guys obviously more tough than I am.

Nice! We planned on going to Grandfather but the info station at the park entrance said it was 29 with 19 as wind chill. Had out 6th month old daughter with us, otherwise we would have done it.
Will hopefully hit the southern part of NC BRP later in the summer when our calendar is freed up. Would love to eventually drive the whole thing.

Yesterday: Built a box to help level the back for sleeping.
Due to the weather, I don't have a installed pic yet.
I guess I forgot to take a pic with he lid on.
The lid is just hinged plywood split in 1/2. It allows access to each side independently.

This was actually a few days ago, but I had to test the handling on The Dragon. It's better than a Harley on these roads but it is definitely not the sports car I'm used to.:lookout:
