What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Yep 5th gen. the tissue hold snaps out, I forgot to put back on before taking the picture.

And a link to the mounts, I did replace the screws with some stainless nuts and bolts.

This is my 2nd antenna "Upgrade". The 1st was made by CravenSpeed, "The Stubby"!I was having far too many reception issues to ignore, so I removed it and re-installed the original.

I ordered another short antenna, 13" to be exact, from a company by the name of "AntennaX". To be honest, I took it with me when I went out this morning, stayed out longer than I had planned to.
Then I installed it immediatley after returning home from shopping; never actually tested it yet!

Don't feel too bad bofa. I bought new tires today as well, but living alone, I have no one here to give me "A Good SPANKING"!!! hehehehehehehe!

I've been playing around with the idea of "Upgrading" from the O.E., Yokohama Geolander G96B (245/60/20), to the much wider, Goodyear "Eagle LS" (275/55/20).

The price wasn't the prohibiting factor (All 4 for $760, incl. mount / bal). It was the fact that my truck is still new, and has only 2,844 miles on it;
no real justification for the change-out! But I posted the original "Yoko's" on the 5th gen, buy/sell...forum; letting all 4 go for $399.

Note: check out the photo of comparason betwn the O.E GEO and the Gdyr Egle. The Yoko (on left), is still inflated on rim, the Gdyr isn't mounted yet.

Mod #2 also flashlight related not as slick as the other one, but just a piece of velcro to keep it from sliding all over the place.

Mod #3 mounting radar detector above rear view mirror, used a mount I had from the Tacoma and made a longer bracket for extended out of the way so the sunglass pocket still worked. Also had to take the wire cover down for the mirror to keep from rubbing.

Changed my oil for the first time (on this vehicle) myself. With 10k intervals I have just been letting the dealer do them, but I am sick of waiting around for an hour for something I can do in 15 min. Well, not with the ARB skids I cant, but I could have with the stock ones :hiding:

Just dumped my old oil and found that while I put in 6.6qt (probably a bit more) I only had 6qt of old oil. I did not check the level prior to changing it, not sure why :shrug: Does anyone else notice that they are not getting the full amount back out? I always do 5qts in my wife's Matrix (requires 4.6qt, did the same with her Corolla with the same engine for 140k and never had an issue) and always get 5qts back.

Did you change the filter too because it holds about a 1/2 quart?
If you did either the dealer(probable) only put in 6 qts or you burned that much(highly doubtful).

I changed my oil and filter 7 times now and drained 6 1/2 quarts and put in 6 1/2 quarts every time. The 8th time is coming up real soon as I have over 7k miles on this oil thru the hot summer and dusty offroads.
