What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Well last week camping with the "Man"...we talked about adding some lighting to bottom handles on the rear liftgate.


I found these bulbs at Home depot for $10 a pop...pretty resonable for 170 lumens.


Then I added wire leads, and JB welded them to the fixture, and added some heat shrink...then they got painted black to blend in


Then they got siliconed to the handles, and brought the wire through. I tapped into the existing hatch lights( I had already installed LED pods in there, so I just tapped into the wiring harness for the base of them)




I was pretty happy about two things...first, the "old school" kelvan color of these lights was a welcome break from the white LED's..and I liked it alot! It throws a real nice pattern behind the truck. (I didn't glue them flat to back of the handles...I tilted them a bit so they shine down a bit)..and two...I got this mod done before Antman...so yea..it's a little sloppy, but it works.

Took my wife's stock SR5 to Crystal Beach (Bolivar Pennisula,Texas), brought the wife, daughter and dogs. Aired the tires down to 20 pounds, dropped into 4 low, engaged the A-TRAC and drove through the deep sand with impunity. After swimming/playing with the dogs for a couple of hours we loaded back up and drove down the beach about 5 miles and then back out.

The big wheeled jeeps and full sized trucks w/ body lifts were out in force. I was the only factory vehicle cruising the deep sand (without getting stuck), few looks of annoyance from some of the brightly colored jeeps - priceless! Helped two stuck vehicles out of the sand - the first was a guy in a 2wd jeep SUV. Pulled him out, then a few miles further up there was Mother/Daughter/Children quartet buried to the axle in a Nissan Altima. Both were easy pulls, 4Runner walked them out easily.

Went to local mountains with a group from the SoCal T4R forum. Good group, great trail ride.
One of the guys took sequence shots of each T4 doing a warer crossing. This is mine.

Airlift 1000 install, easy peasy, but making my 16 year old son man the 1/2" impact wrench, floor jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, run for tools, hand me stuff and then sweep up the metal shaving was awesome!

Looks good! Without digging through Jeff's build what did you use for the cup holders? The small liners from the fronts? That makes the fronts huge :shrug:

Exactly! My Grandpa was a Diesel Truck Mechanic for 40 years, I didn't have a choice but to learn to turn a wrench! I may need you to speak to my son!

Done my fair share of gofor'ing as well. Worst job? Holding that damn trouble light. And then Grandpa asking me if I could see. Well I answered yes and then he said well I can't so get that damn light out of my eyes! I miss that grumpy old man.

Today, I installed the chrome exhaust tip, rear cargo mat, mud flaps, and exchanged my stock tires for Nitto Terra Grapplers...my local tire dealer purchased my new Grandtrek AT20's for $400, and I only had to pay $337 difference for the Grapplers. However, the tire dealer scratched the outside edge of two of my new rims...I am calling them in the morning to see what they will do

Drove to Mesa to pick up a new toy

SCAR 17. Needs a new grip and some Vltor stuff as well as some glass but this thing is a beast with just the irons. Got my Surefire SOCOM mount in both 7.62 and 5.56 to mount a can last night.
