Leaky Tire or loose valve stem?
TPMS light came on today, I checked the tires to find one very low. Looked it over and did not see anything in the tread. This happened about a year ago and again today.
The valve stem was not tight enough both times. The first time I blamed Toyota manufacturing. I should have known better.
I have been using Trailhead deflators and I think the deflators caused the problem. I now have a valve stem tool and a pack of new valve stems in my toolbox.

Can't wait to get mine. My rear superflex coils aren't enough with the weight back there. I think heavy is the only way to go with the rear bumpers.

Any chance you're getting sand in there? I know when I used to check 18 wheeler tires, if they were dirty/sandy, the sand would make them deflate slowly.

Initially I was going to go with the medium rate and then Wade recommended the heavies. He said the heavies don't effect the ride feel much at all compared to the mediums, so I said why not.
Also, the bump stops have changed. No longer billet aluminum. They are now powder coated steel and weigh within a couple ounces of each other.

I finally got rid of the terrible "billet" grille craft grille insert that mine came with when I bought it. Also had my first adventure with Plasti Dip. It really is ridiculously easy. The rear garnish came out more textured than I would have liked, but it doesn't look that bad from far away.

I called Firestone to verify that they had the right tire in stock, they said they did... and I got a deal that I never expected.
I told the rep that I was thinking about getting the warranties for the new tire, as well as the already-installed tires. He told me that he could swing me a deal. I figured, "Yeah, whatever." But I listened.
He offered that, if I bought the coverage for the four original tires (including the damaged tire) AND the new tire, he'd be able to prorate the price of the new tire. A brand new Destination A/T 265/70/17 ended up costing me just over $50.
So with the new warranties for five tires and the prorated $50 for the new tire, I ended up driving away with a new tire, warranties on all my tires (except my spare) for $170.
Nice deal!!

We're at it again... Hit up Anza Borrego for a little fun in the sun. This time, we have two 5th Gen 4Runners and a Nissan Frontier cruisin' to Hills of the Moon. We got there pretty late in the evening so I didn't get a chance to take drive by shots or capture the campsite being setup.
All in all it was a great trip. Good company, good food and nature... what more could you ask for?

Finally was able to get out and start testing the new 4runner. It started out as a hike and a fishing day but I saw a trail that I couldn't resist. Decided to try out some of the crawl control features and they were as expected but then again, I didn't really need them in this scenario.
