Last weekend we went to the beach - Assateague Island National Park. (No way it was this empty Memorial Day weekend.)

Fence is the MD/VA state line. Yellow thing is metal, some speculate a bouy that broke free.

Did some fishing.

And saw the locals.

Replaced my Steel RCI front skid with an Aluminum skid that's been customized to fit the ARB front cover (also modified the ARB cover so that they align perfectly) and had the Oil door reinforced (1/2" total aluminum) and welded besides the rivets. And added some LCA skids... Josh is the man!

Nice, I had spoke with Josh about doing something similar.

Great idea on welding the braces a thicker oil filter window. I'd even go with thicker and stronger braces. This is how mine looks now. Hit a big rock, dead center of the window in some tall grass. Never saw it. I had just started moving maybe a couple of miles an hour.

I cut the ARB front skid so they meet exactly at the RCI skid width and trimmed the front (part that would normally connect to the cross-frame if you didn't have a lift). I also had Josh pre-drill holes for the ARB skid to mount to.



For the oil door, I had Josh reinforce (double) the thickness of the oil door and weld the mounting brackets vs. rivet only. Came out good. Josh stated that the rivets they use are rated to 700lbs.

Yeah that's beefier I like it. a full set of those is third on the major change list, hopefully this winter/next spring.

Although I think I would rather have the mounting brackets intentionally fail vs trashing the skid or the door. Your hopefully going to stop when you hear it fail, I'd be afraid of snagging a hard/sharp stone in the door and tear the whole thing off. Drill out the rivets and pound the f'n mount brackets flat again, re-rivet.

After a hot, semi-muggy Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta, driving around with the windows open, and with my trip to even hotter locales out west coming up, I realized the SofTex material on the Trail Premium's seats is "pretty darn hot". Since I like to ride with the windows open during the summer I'm hoping sheepskin seat covers will provide some relief from the excess back and butt heat and sweat seemingly exacerbated by the SofTex. Hope they get here before my trip.

I redid the layout of my tie down rack for the cargo area.

The frame is getting thrashed from all my changes and I've not even had it offroad yet

But with the new fridge and a trip to Moab coming up I had to hack at it to get it ready.

front hitch install

Crawled under my 2013 SR5 this weekend to remove the lower front bumper plastic (what crap) and install the TE version of the Curt front hitch. I picked up tips on this from other previous posts on this forum. I really like the way the TE hitch version tucks up under the SR5 and doesn't scream out about being there. Plus I don't loose any clearance with it. After the install I celebrated by hitting the sand on Island Beach State Park to do some fishing.

(I'll post pics. I took some, knowing how important it is for this forum , but they were worthless because the hitch was hidden in the shadows.)

Thanks, already got the part on its way. I hope the part # comes with the rubber pad for the little storage area, I couldn't find a separate one for it. I plan to just use the same LTD switch and put it in a different location. I kinda like the place you used, but feel it could look a little more factory.

It was a long time ago but I'm pretty sure both parts were needed.

The light and mount look good.
One thing though and not sure if it's the angle of the pic but the light looks off center and a few inches more to the passenger side.

$90 is for the annual pass. "Day only" refers to the hours 5am-midnight. Have to have the "Day/night" pass if you want to be out there midnight-5am.
